I like Miles Fionn. Can't decide which girl name I like best, but I think Evelyn is too popular.

It's interesting that you say that, because I got that response from someone else (about Evelyn being popular, that is) recently, and was totally surprised. I haven't heard it at all--but obviously other people are hearing it, since you're not the first to make that comment. Interesting...

I have to say I am totally biased towards Dorian, mostly because of Dorian Grey. The issue was DH hated it because of the Scrubs association (Characters name was John Dorian) which I did not mind at all, but it left the list when we found out an old friend named their son Dorian, I didn't love it enough to share it with another child we know. I think it's a great name! Dorian Elliot is my favorite!!

I have to say Holden seems to be coming up in popularity and while I am thrilled so many people have read Catcher in the Rye, I am just not into such a single reference name. I much prefer Elliot that has a lot of associations, even if one of them is a girl (from Scrubs again go figure ).

The Shrek and Fionna Apple thing would kill Fionna for me, which is too bad cause it is a very pretty name. But I would imagine that it would feel like a generational name because of the popularity of the references.

I also want to say that I have seen George used a few times for girls. On Dead like Me the main character was named Georgina but went by George, I know a few people who want to use the name George for girl's now.

I also have to say Vera is pretty and very classic.

Some associations not mentioned"

Elliot- A female doctor on the TV show Scrubs is named this. I think of it as a boys name but I think that some people are starting to think it is crossing over to the girls.

Vera- Another musical reference- Pink Floyd. The name is used several times in the 'The Wall' and is one of the song titles as well on that album.

I like Vera - pronounced Veh-ra...Vee-ra not so much. And I love Bee with anything!

Lots of Miles and Elliots around these parts (DC). I prefer Ezra and Elliot to Miles.
