Dr. Bronners?

Anyone use it?

I used some for the first time tonight and after I felt like I had rubbed a glue stick in my hair and on my body. It was the Lavendar All in One Bar. Now that my skin is dry it feels nice and soft but when I first got out of the shower I felt tacky all over.

My hair is wet and it still feels tacky but that is a good thing because I am trying to get it to tangle.

I am just trying to see if this is normal LOL

Either way it smells so good! I wish the store had the famous peppermint scent soap. I bet that would be so refreshing after a hot day here in Florida.

I use Dr. Bronner's Hemp bar in the shower currently (I alternate between liquid peppermint and baby mild) and don't have that tacky or sticky feel I do with residue from mainstream soaps. It may have to do with the water, too. Maybe soft water doesn't rinse the soap off as easily? Or maybe it's the lavender additive, I don't know b/c that's one I haven't tried.

I use Dr. Bronner's and I know exactly what you're talking about. I think it's just because Dr. Bronner's does such a good job of removing oil, that there's not much left after you use it. When I use it on my hair, I use a good natural conditioner to replace the oil, and it works beautifully. As for my skin, although it makes my skin REALLY clean (i.e. - that tacky feeling), I don't find it drying at all. Which is very unusual for me. Usually any soap dries my skin out, and eventually causes a rash. I think it's just that I'm allergic to many many things, so I have to stick with the all natural stuff.

Anyway, my guess is that the tacky feeling you have is just what your hair and skin feel like with NO oil, but water on them. If you're skin doesn't feel dried out after showering, I wouldn't worry about it. As for your hair, you say you want it to be tacky, so you can probably just leave it. Otherwise, conditioning after you wash should work. Hope that helps.

My skin never feels tacky after using Dr. Bronner's. But, I expect the tacky texture to your hair is because Dr. Bronner's is soap, not detergent (the base of most shampoo). Soap leaves a residue of glycerine. Glycerine is great for skin - very softening - but, it's not good left on hair.

People who shampoo with soap (self included) usually follow-up with a light, apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse to remove residue. Most people seem to mix a tablespoon or so in a cup of water. Personally, I just keep a spray bottle of ACV in the shower to spritz (then, rinse with plain water).

My skin still felt great this morning so I guess it is all good.

I have that gross Florida water that sometimes smells weird so who knows what that could do to the soap
