I love soakers made from Marr Haven's wool. It's no certified organic but she doesn't use pestacides and it's a great price for a natural farm wool. The heathers are a bit thicker than the natural. I've only tried green, burgandy, lilac heather and then the natural (worsted weight)
I knit my own soakers and intend to sell on Etsy, I had read that hand knitted soakers are generally more water resitant than machine knitted soakers due to the machine stripping the wool of it's lanolin.
Not all hand knitted soakers are equal though, depends on the yarn used, pattern (how it fits your baby and diaper) the size needles used and the experience of the knitter.
We love wool too. Fitteds are prefered for exclusivly breast fed babies, as the elasticated legs of the diaper help prevent the loose bf stoops leaking onto the soaker.
I also knit my needles, your yarn. But it's pricey to knit wool soakers as a buisness, as our products are tested onperformamce rather than the knitting, and this is achieved by the yarn chosen. Good yarn is pricey and Manu mamas don't realize this until they have to go out and purchase it themselves. I use wooden needles ( love the feel of natural wood I've metal anyday, and sing knitting is time consuming, wood makes it a pleasure, not a chore). But, wooden needles wear down and they can easily get broken, needles are expensive to replace.
