Review of The Vaccine Book

I ran into this review of "the Vaccine book" when I was doing some other reading, and immediately wondered what the MDC people would have to say about it. We selectively vax, which seems to make me naive, in the author's pov.

I only read the first few parts of that article, but I know that I agree with what its saying. I have "The Vaccine Book" by Dr. Sears, and its a pro-vaccines book, so that is the big problem about it--it does not discuss the anti-vaccine side at all about how vaccines do not work (completely ineffective), damage the immune system, vaccines were not responsible for the decline in diseases, etc., which are important aspects of anti-vaccine books out there.

Here is what Dr. Sears says on page 9 of The Vaccine Book:

Quote:
Whenever I meet a parent who doesn't vaccinate (or only partially vaccinates) her child, I like to pick her brain a little to see how she thinks. I've written down many responses over the years, and I've recorded the thoughtful and logical ones in this section of each chapter. I've purposely left out any of the really, shall we say, "interesting" ideas. Although the inclusion of such interesting comments would be sure to entertain and amuse you--like the one about germs not really causing infections; they're just a normal and harmless part of our everyday existence, so the shots aren't needed to prevent them--some of them might just confuse the heck out of you, and this book is all about unconfusion.)
So for those of us non-vaxing people who do not believe in The Germ Theory, Dr. Sears says that he is "amused" an "entertained" at us, and that our "interesting" ideas are going to confuse his readers. He only wants to include "thoughtful" and "logical" ideas in his book, so our arguments don't belong in his book because he thinks that we are "unthoughtful" and "illogical". We would only confuse his readers, he says. This shows that the book is shallow and doesn't think outside the mainstream conventional-thinking box, so its giving you a biased, pro-vaccine view only.
