Do you let your dog "kiss" your children's faces?

Do they wash their hands after "handling" animals?

I keep reading that this is important. We have a cat and a wonderful new dog who kisses a lot. Dd loves it. She also insists on petting every (permitted) dog we run into and THEY kiss her. Her hands would be rubbed raw if I insisted she wash them every time this happens.

Should we just make sure doggy is wormed/bathed whatever and not worry about it? I just can't imagine not letting him kiss her.

BTW, this is our 6-year-old rescue I was wondering if dd would bond with 'cause he's older. Ha! We've been camping the past 2 nights and it's her sleeping bag he chose. I wish I could post pictures, but our camera is broken...

I wash my kids hands after they handle our frogs and snakes and the neighbors chickens but not after petting our cats or dogs. You can't get worms from a cats/dog's mouth, only from the other end

Okay, angie7, thanks! We do wash hands after cleaning up poop and whatnot and we keep the yard clear of it.
