I made the cutest signs to put on the bassinet explaining what we did and didn't want. I had a thread about them earilier in the week.
Anyway, I didn't get to use them because baby ended up being in special care for 30 hours. So, some things just weren't feasible. HOWEVER, my birthplan was wonderful! Every nurse or dr that we dealt with had read the bp and all things were respected! No eye ointment, no bottle or paci (even though he was in sc and on an iv) They let me wait to see if he would be able to nurse with 36 hours before moving to pumped colostrum or formula.
It all went really smooh because of our bp. There were barely any questions about why we wanted certain things and why we didn't want others. We were only told that they had seen "stranger" requests befo re!
So, taking the time to write a bp and even make the signs was very worth it! I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
