I'm planning to use mostly prefolds with my soon-to-be-born and feeling like I have no idea what to do with them. Does anybody have tips, or a link to a website with good directions? Thanks!

I like to use the jelly roll fold with newborns. Here's another site with pics, etc. You can also look it up on youtube to find some videos if you want!

i second the jelly roll fold. you can also just fold the prefold in thirds and lay it in the cover though at first while you are figuring the folds out. i trifolded throughout dd1s entire diapering period, but with dd2 i discovered how well folding and fastening the prefold in place will hold in explosive poo. its not as hard as it seems, there's just a little learning curve. good luck and congrats on the babe!

- Bork!bork!bork! means banning. That is why most woah-men dread it.

- Bork!bork!bork! is the search for the banning that works.

I've found the bikini twist is what works best with ds but we also sometimes just trifold in a cover or do a traditional newspaper fold. You really need to experiment a little to find out what works best with your baby's build. I printed some of the pictures off & put them above the change table until I became comfortable doing them on my own.

It looks so bulky in the picture! Is it always like that or is it more trim once you get the cover on?

My now 2mo ds had a skinny butt and chubby thighs almost from day one. When we started him in cloth at a few weeks old, trifolding in a cover didn't work at all and we had blowouts galore, and doing the jelly roll or the regular newspaper fold didn't work either. The ONLY thing that worked was the twist, and it contained even some really spectacular poos, not even getting it on the cover. Now that he's bigger, I'm using RRPs stuffed with prefolds, but if we had to do just prefolds and covers I'd be using the twist for sure.
Oh, and one big tip for prefolds....
