No poo for 2 yr old after swimming

My just turned 2 yr old and I don't use shampoo, I use diluted baking soda and acv on myself, and for her I was using just water. Hers wasn't looking or smelling as nice as it was with shampoo, even after a couple months, (very flat, maybe oily) so then I used honey, which was better but still a little too conditioned. We've been going to the pool once a week so I've started using extra diluted bs and acv on her, cause I felt I needed to get the chlorine out. Her hair is great now, sort of fluffy but conditioned, perfect I think. But I'm worried the bs is too strong for her, it's so alkaline. Do you think it's ok as long as it's really diluted, and her hair looks and feels great?

Also, she cries when I get the acv out and says it smells bad. Should I stop using it because of that or let her get used to it? It's only been twice so far(once a week).

I think if her hair and scalp look and feel great, then what you're doing is great.

I wonder if you could tell her to pick a scent (EO's or vanilla or something she likes) to mix with the ACV. I put in a cinnamon sticks, some cloves and vanilla for myself. Perhaps if she were allowed to choose, she'd be able to get past her dislike of the acv smell. You could put vanilla in and call it her "cookie conditioner" or something.

I know you don't use soap, but i just bought Dr. Bonner's Shikakai baby unscented soap to use as shampoo on my kids. I was afraid that the bs and acv would sting their eyes (i'd heard it does, and mine can't stay still during rinsing), and i wanted something natural. I only plan to use it once a week. Perhaps when they're older, we'll no-poo. Just another possibility.

I do have some Dr Bronners unscented baby soap, and have been thinking of using it, but want to try first to see if I can get away with not using soap... but it's such a great and easy idea! I'll see how the acv goes.

Oh, if you add a scent to the acv, it doesn't still smell vinegary?

It does still smell vinegary, but i thought perhaps your dd would be more agreeable if she had some choice in the matter.
