Shedding Vaccine

So I just asked my parents (who watch my daughter once a week) to let us know when they get their shots so we can keep our daughter home(and the new baby due in oct.). And of course my Dad was excited to take the opportunity to brag about all the shots he is going to get. But said he would let us know when he does.

How long do people shed the live virus vaccine? I am assuming swine flu will be live. He was also proud to tell me he will be getting the shingles vaccine.

I told him to stop being a sheep. But, oh no, I am the crazy one. Not worth my energy trying to educate them. :

The shots are not live and do not shed. the nasal flu mist is live and does shed. If they get shots you are fine. IF it does get made into a mist then I think its several days.

The shingles vaccine IS a live virus. I wouldn't worry about this so much, unless you are adamant about you LO not getting CP at this time. The chances of this happening, though, are pretty slim. Also, since you are having another baby, as long as you have had CP, your baby will be fine. It will also be covered by your antibodies as long as you are breastfeeding. (just a little FYI)
