squeezable purees

So, my son really likes the baby food that comes in squeeze containers- the ones with a little spout on top. I am glad that he is eating something, so want to encourage him, but they are so expensive. I was thinking of putting boiling water in them and refilling them. Does anyone have any other ideas of something similar or how I could re-use the containers?

I've never seen what you're talking about, but maybe something like this would help?

I don't know if he could squirt it himself though.

Hmmm... Do you have one of those? Would my 2yo be able to squirt the food on it for himself? I think that's the draw of the squeeze food. This is what he likes:
