Escaping MSG?

I have been reading this book and there was a section about MSG and all the names that can disguise MSG in our foods. It seems like it's in so many foods!! I think I need to be the master of my own spice rack to stop using seasonings that contain MSG. I don't understand how people aren't more onto this. It seems like every Chinese food restaurant has to plaster "NO MSG" in their window but in reality most of us have been eating MSG unknowingly in some many products.

What do you do instead of seasoning packs and such? i have slowly been weeding out yucky stuff from the kitchen and MSG is my new enemy!!

If you want to avoid MSG, it's your best bet to avoid anything pre-packaged altogether. What kind of seasonings are you looking to replace? You can make just about anything using herbs and spices, it's really easy. If you like pre-made seasonings, try Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Salute. It's great!

MSG = sick to me. I feel awful and get horrid migraines. I try my hardest to avoid artificial flavoring/seasoning. You couldn't pay me enough to eat ramen noodles with those nasty little packets.

MSG is right up there with Red 40 as far as crap that should never be ingested.

I don't know exactly which seasoning packs you use, but you can easily make most of them with your own spices. It's much cheaper too. Just google whatever spice recipe you're looking for.
