  1. What kind of material would you use?
  2. Where would you buy it?

i'm in canada, so have access to the usual brick and mortar stores like fabricland, and quilting fabric stores and stuff like that. also have http://www.wazoodle.com/cgi-bin/cats...=Diaper%20Shop on my bookmarks. any other resources you like?

I would like to know this too. I don't think I've ever seen birdseye at Fabricland. Flannel would be fine. I haven't seen anything on Wazoodle, other than flannel, that would be cost effective.

Flannel, it is soft, absorbent, and seems to fold nicely. I wasn't impressed with the flannel prefolds I made. It seemed a little bulky and hard to fold. I didn't have any problems when I tried to flat fold one.

I'm in Canada too. I badly wanted to make some out of the hemp fleece at wazoodle, but it's so expensive. (although, would still be cheaper than using AIO's!)
I ended up getting diaper flannel (natural, not bleached) from fabricland. It was half-price so I got enough for a dozen flats for about $10! I just finished serging them and washed them, and they are incredibly soft. They also dry nicely out on the line.
