The title says it all.

I'd try Etsy, a lot of folks there make makeup, some more natural than others, but the prices are not nearly as obscene as a lot of places.

www.everydayminerals.com

They have a free sample kit so you can find your perfect shade, vegan brushes, and usually run some special or other so you can get a bonus gift.

what is your price range?

i buy dr. haushka, which for powder and foundation it's about $60, BUT it lasts me over 1 year. so $5/month on average. i have super sensitive skin and it's the only kind i can use that works, is natural and feels like i'm not wearing makeup.

www.everydayminerals.com - LOVE them! It's inexpensive, and it lasts a LONG time.

I have to agree, Everyday Minerals is the way to go. They encourage you to order as many sample kits as you like (free you only pay a 3.40 shipping charge). At $12 for the largest size base you cannot go wrong. Plus for 2.50 you can order a sample size of basically anything they have! good luck!

Not anymore! They redid their website AGAIN, and it's a mess. They actually got rid of the free sample kits that made their business so successful, and replaced it with a ridiculous Try Me Kit for first time customers that has four pre-selected foundations from 4 different color families and 4 different formulas. It's ridiculous! You no longer get to select which foundations and formulas you want to try. Of course you could buy them for $2.50 each for a teeny-tiny little jar.

It's probably for the best anyway, because they've turned into company that can't be trusted. They told the forum members point-blank the kits that allowed you to choose either 6 full size products for $34, or 12 full size products for $50 would still be available on the new site... and then when the site changed they were just gone, with no apology or explanation. Just, too bad we told you to wait, now you have to pay up to 60% or more for the same products.

They have some new discounts that give you a lower price on lip glosses and eyecolors, but other than that it's way more expensive.

And personally, I wouldn't even mind if they had to raise the prices (how else would they pay for constantly redesigning the jars and the website etc?)... but it's the principle that they outright lied about it and purposely mislead their most faithful customers. I used to be one, but not any more because I don't like to support companies that lie.

Oh, and even worse... they decided to stop taking PayPal, which means a large number of their customers can't even order any more.

i used to use mineral makeup. i liked that it was very natural. but i found that my skin gradually became coarser, oilier and more sensitive. i much prefer liquid and then powder on top.

another trick i use that really stretches my foundation, and helps my skin, is to mix my foundation 50/50 or 70/30 with my moisturizer. right now i use an oil moisturizer, so i don't mix it. i let my moisturizer absorb for about 15 minutes before applying foundation, and i use way less makeup this way.

i also use my clean fingers instead of a grody sponge. and i wash my powder brushes once a week. this helps my powder to stay good for longer too.

mk12, that is awful! I just ordred from them a few weeks ago, buying a bunch of samples and then planning to come back and order one of the 12/$50 kits. I had ordered only one other time from them and really enjoyed the products but wasn't able get my perfect foundation match. Aghhh.

I really like honeybee gardens through frontier- not bad prices. They don't offer as much, but I like their mascara, eye liners, lipsticks, and they have some mineral powders as well. I tend to prefer the tubes. KMF on frontier has some nice stuff too- not powders but these 3 way tubes and some cheap tinted lip balms that are great.

Hi ladies

I am the new owner of KT Naturals (as mentioned above). We have 25 foundation shades that are made with all natural ingredients (no chemicals, preservatives such as parabens, perfumes, FD&C dyes, bismuth oxychloride, talc, ferric ferrocyanide, carmine, or organic materials that can spoil, no micronized minerals).

Our prices are very affordable.

Let me know if any of you need help finding a foundation match or questions on mineral makeup. I'd love to help you!

So glad I found this thread. I have been looking for something affordable as well. I would really like to use all natural make up but good grief! I am checking out the KT naturals, so right! you are affordable! thanks!

I was going to suggest Everyday Minerals until I read what was posted above. I still have some Bare Minerals that I need to use up and had only tried Everyday Minerals. I really liked them and was going to switch to them. I guess I'll have to try another brand now.

I used to use BareMinerals until I was tired of scraping up money to order it off eBay or somewhere else. The prices were scary.

Then, I used a Walmart brand and obviously that really sucked, too!

Now I am happily wearing all natural affordable makeup. I am really amazed that this (KT Naturals) makeup covers so well. I literally think "wow!" when I look in the mirror in different lights and see how airbrushed my face looks.

I suggested Everyday Minerals too, b/c that's what I've been using. However, I haven't ordered in over a year (don't use makeup every day anymore) and didn't know about the changes MK describes.

For kicks, I checked out KT Naturals, and have to say, the prices look good, the products look good, and I was SO EXCITED to see you can order a refill in a baggie instead of wasting a plastic jar every time you run out! (This was always a sticking point for me with EM, and I emailed the company to ask about more environmentally-friendly refills... I got the "we don't do that" answer. That's never good enough for me, but I let it go b/c I don't use much and that's status quo these days...)

Needless to say, I'll be ordering from KT Naturals next time I need something!

I don't wear much makeup but for powder, mascara, and foundation I like EccoBella. It's available at most HFS's.

I'm going to check out KT Naturals too.

Great! Let me know if you need any assistance in picking out shades .

Maybe this should be a new thread but, how do you all know whether you're skin tone is "warm" "neutral" or "cool"?

I've tried mineral make up but, not being an experienced make up wearer, I never know what to pick and what I end up buying never looks good so I give up.

Is there some test to know what skin tone you have?

Do you generally look best (get the most compliments/favorite pictures/etc) when you wear warm colors or cool colors near your face?

Conversely, which colors alway have people asking if you are feeling well?

Not that everyone can pull off EITHER, but if you had to choose which was BEST, would you say true white looks best on you or ivory/off-white/cream? Which one makes your eyes and skin seem a bit clearer? It gets tricky when people LIKE certain colors and favor those. What honestly brings out the best in your skin tone and eyes? Another person can be quite helpful when determining this.

I used to sell cosmetics (direct marketing) and one of the key points for this particular company at that time was determining your "season". In order for the consultant to figure it out, we put a white cape over the client's shoulders and pinned a bunch of fabric samples to each side. Cool on one shoulder; warm on the other shoulder; alternate putting a cool one in front of the clients neck/upper chest and a warm one...back and forth until it becomes obvious. (This is fun, really!) I can tell you from my experiences and training, most people *think* they are "warm" and in fact most people are "cool". This particular company did not have anything "neutral" at that time, which may well be what is truly most common. From a consultant's perspective, the easiest colors to test for quick results of cool versus warm are orange (warm), fuchsia (cool), and wheat (warm - most people look AWFUL in this color, but those who are truly "warm" simply RADIATE health and SHINE in this color). Out of allll the clients I did the color-testing with, I only had 3 who were truly "warm". Not really an accurate market research project, but anecdotal nonetheless.
