Cervix photos?

Does anyone have a link to a video, animation, or photos of what a cervix looks like when it is dialating? I would love to be able to picture it, I think that would help me to open.

I did find this. Don't look at it if you are sensitive! It is straight up photos of someone's cervix on her period!!!

OK, that was pretty gross But neat all the same. I wonder what would possess someone to post such photos on a public blog? And how did she get the camera up in there? And the lighting? The logistics of it all amaze me, quite honestly

But to answer your original question - No, I don't know of any photos of a dilating cervix.

i do know navelgazingmidwife was looking for volunteers to photogragh their cervixes during labor...don't know that she has anything posted on her blog yet, but might be worth a look.

I am also completely fascinated by the logistics. How do you hold open a cervix like that? Maybe a timer would be necessary, but I wonder how long it took her to get a lens focused in clearly on her cervix.

Or maybe she had help?

ddc crashing, if you read some on that link, it says she used a plastic speculum, a digital camera with a macro setting, and a talented boyfriend wearing a headlamp. I can just imagine how the conversation went when she asked him for his help with a little project,

HAHA... her boyfriend wearing a headlamp! That's amusing! I made my DP take OPKs with me for a month to see if his LH increased when mine did, but I don't think he'd do the cervix photography. Eeek.

Loved this site and pictures when I first saw it. It really helped me visualize my own cervix. I wish I had seen this years ago.

I did a search and came up with nothing also... DH has a very good friend who is an OB/GYN though so I will ask him if he has any medical texts with pictures I could scan.

I SO would do this. Maybe I will ask my midwife if she has a plastic spacula opening thingy. What do youthink? I am 2cm dialated right now-that would be facinating to see, wouldn't it!? They I could do it every day and see how much more dialated I am, while at the same time knowing that I would be helping other mama's visualize their cervix opening....

I agree, it is ridiculous how much women do not know about their bodies, and what we do know we think is gross. I keep asking dh if he is okay with the perineal massage this time around bc I am so much fatter and he might think it is gross. Why on earth would I think a few pounds on my body would make my vagina gross? I seriously need some help before I start raising a little girl!

Anyways, SOMEONE should do this. I just realized I don't have a (gasp) macro lens or a regular digital camera....

Thanks, that is helpful. I still don't understand why you can't have a lip. Why do you need to be 10cm exactly?

I had a lip with my second and I just pushed past it. He was posterior though and that made everything worse.
