How do you night-diaper your toddler??

My DD will be 3 next month. She has been pl'd for about 9 months or so...with occassional mistakes in daytime. Naps are usually dry now, so we do panties. But night is DEFINITELY a diaper. Occassionally she is dry, but usually wets during the night. This week, she is even leaking and it is frustrating. We used to use BG's 3.0 on her at night....BUT 1. I've grown not-too-fond of them anymore and 2. they don't fit her anymore.
Any suggestion? I have 2 toddler prefolds that I got her to see if they were any better, and a Large Thirsties cover. I also have some homemade doublers my mother made for me.

Would wool be better? I'm trying to decide if the Aristocrat is with the hefty price tag? I've read they are "bullet proof"! maybe a pf, doubler and the wool? would one be enough?

Any insight ??

I got bigger covers and laid tri-folded prefolds in them. When DS was in the heavy-wetting stage I'd use two. Now it's just one (he's 4 but we still use a diaper at night just in case - he's dry 6 nights out of 7 but he sleeps in my bed so I'm not taking chances ) My favorite is a fuzzi bunz with a prefold laid in, not stuffed.

Wool will work as long as you use a good absorbent layer. You may try using a soaker over the top of a BG for extra insurance.

Or....you could get a waterproof mattress pad and have an extra set of sheets & jammies ready for a mid-night change. A few overnight "accidents" will probably help teach her to wake up and go to the bathroom better than a better diaper. I know it is hard on you in the short term, but long term, bed wetting accidents really do help them to learn when to get up.

Best wishes!

Happy Heiny's makes pocket trainers which could be stuffed according to your needs.

We use BG AIO diapers. I like them because they also have a pocket for extra protection. We use a hemp babies insert in it, and haven't had any leaks!

I use a 4x6x4 prefold with a hemp doubler and a cover, usually imse vimse, sometimes wool. I don't think you need a wool cover, unless you're really worried about breathability.

THank you so much for the replies. ...I have put a waterproof mattress pad on her bed. It does help. If she wakes up wet and I have to change her, etc. it is a PITA because she is such a bad sleeper and it is an ordeal to get her back to bed! (one of the reasons I can't wait for her to pl'd at night!). but that probably WILL help to teach her eventually.

The "wool over BG" sounds good, but the BG's don't fit her anymore. I think they "Might" fit her a little better with one insert, but that would never hold one of her pees. If i double-stuff them she complains they hurt.

THe fun continues!

I used BG with two doublers for DS, and they just started leaking lately almost every night. I put a fleece cover over everything and that has been keeping him dry. I was thinking about a wool ocver too, but at this stage in the game the price was a little too steep for me.
