what fabric for a summer wrap?

I would like to make myself a simple wrap, but I don't know what type of fabric would be breathable enough for the hot summer (it was 85 degrees today and HUMID!) but strong enough for babe.

Also- how much fabric should I use; I know a moby is 5 yards, but aren't rebozo style carriers just 3? Would that just mean I would be able to do less carries?

Thanks!

I don't have one myself, but I've seen other moms use gauze. It seemed really sturdy and not too hot. You should look into gauze...

fabric for sling/wrap

India cottons are lightweight yet strong and flexible...plus they are pretty and natural looking!

I got my pattern for a Maya padded ringsling from

I second gauze (muslin). I just "made" one for $7 and it feels about as cool as one can feel with a baby on one's chest .

Crinkle cotton and gauze make nice thin wraps. Not as comfortable on the shoulders as thicker wraps, but good enough. If you'd like to do rebozo carries, then 3 yards is plenty.

Do you have access to a bamboo fabric. I just got a new bamboo wrap and LOVE how light weight it is for the summer.
