We used Schwann's when I was alot younger. I used to get so excited when he would stop by with all the frozen bars and things.
These days he doesn't have much for me to try or use.
I did order a bag of the mixed berries though. Not sure when delivery is, but thanx for the heads up OP!

My parents were Schwann's customers for years and years. Favorites growing up included frozen punch concentrate, orange push-ups, and individual size pizzas.

I have food allergies now, but there are a food things I like, all frozen treats. Fudge bars, strawberry fruit bars, push ups, popsicles, bomb pops, root beer float bars.

This gives me an excuse to get on the local driver's route. And an excuse to buy a box of frozen treats once a month or so.

Thank you so much for sharing! I decided to give it a try. Can't beat free! I've thought about ordering in the past and never got around to it. If this goes well, then I will probably become a regular customer.

I have never ever had a problem w/Schwans. The 2 drivers I've had were never pushy. My mom has always had very positive experiences w/them too. She orders every time and has for years. I do it periodically, and actually had been thinking of doing it recently, just for a few items I miss. Their Gold Nugget bars are to die for, and the veggie/pasta mix is a great item to have for a quick meal. The vegetarian lasagnes are sooooooo good. I can't replicate them, I swear I've tried, and I'm usually able to do that.

Too bad I'm probably still in their database or I'd get something free, lol.

When did you order last?
It just says that you are ineligible if you have ordered from them within the last fourteen weeks.

Wowie!!! I signed up and ordered a free bag of cheddar biscuits. I haven't received them yet, but I thought I'd browse the site and see what kind of junky snacks and convenience foods might be fun to have on hand from time to time. Just wanted to say, check the nutrition facts before you order!! I was blown away by the amount of trans fat in some of their foods, up to 4-5 grams per serving in some cases!!!! I didn't expect anything to be a nutritional goldmine , but it's really not that often I see that amount of trans fat in a product anymore. OOPS!! We'll still eat the biscuits (1.5 g trans fat/ea) but if I do order anything in the future I will have to remind myself to read the nutrition facts before I stick it in my cart.

I'm thinking of giving the cheese stuffed pretzel bites a try!

I've heard this as well, so I'll pass. I have friends who say the Schwann's guy comes by their house regularly trying to get them to buy his food (though they are not regular customers). I'm guessing this is a way of opening up a dialogue with new customers so they can come by regularly and talk you into buying more. Being bothered regularly by a salesman is not worth $10 to me. Oh well.

Nothing is ever truly free. You are now in a database. I wonder if they ever sell their customer lists? I wonder how many new customers will be "bugged/hounded" by the salesmen/drivers?

It depends on what day the driver does that particular route. Usually it's on a 2-week schedule. I get my deliveries on Sunday afternoons every other week.

I Schwans! I have never had them come to my house unless I made an order though. That's kind of weird.. I used to buy a ton from them before I moved! They have the BEST seasoned frozen avocado halves! We also love the pizza rings. MMM! They always have some sort of freebie promo going on too for new customers! Unfortunately they don't have many veggie options or anything organic or I'd probably order from them more often!

My parents used Schwan's in the past for many years, and we have used their service off and on in the past 10 years.

Sometimes the delivery has gotten annoying -- such as, only comes every 2 weeks, so if you miss him then you don't have your special pie for the Christmas party -- or, of course, he comes when you are in the shower or worse, in the middle of nursing the baby and haven't had a shower for, oh, I don't know, like a WEEK. haha

One time we cancelled service because we were all pretty much a Candida diet, and when I explained to the delivery guy that we couldn't really eat much of what they offered, he was dumbfounded like, "So... What do you eat?!"

Anyway, I wanted to say THANKS for sharing this offer... I have placed my order and am looking forward to getting it.

Their food is great quality and we have been happy with pretty much everything we have tried in the past.

And, it is pretty easy to cancel, for those who are apprehensive. Especially since you should be able do it online now. You shouldn't have to worry about being hounded by the delivery guy (who, IME, haven't been very hounding.)

See, this is the weird thing, our ice cream was delivered today and I got a really bad vibe from the guy. He basically told me that now we were on his delivery route and he'd be coming by every two weeks and that we were expected to buy something. Which I told him I thought they'd only come by if we ordered online...? That seems a little messed up to me!

Anyhow, I seem to be in the minority of what I have heard, but most definitely this guy was annoyed at giving out free stuff--specifically he stated to me:

1. He works on commision.
2. Shwann wasn't doing this to 'give out free food' they're doing it to get new paying customers on their route.
3. He would be by here again in two weeks to sell me food, even if I don't make an order online they have deals they can offer in person.

I explained to him basically that I was thinking of using their service on a situational basis (aka, like after I'd given birth and was pretty busy and needed something convienient without leaving the house).

So, it sounds like he's going to be back in two weeks to try to hard sell me.


The irony--I was going to look and see what they had if anything looked good and order...now the guy REALLY turned me off to that .

I totally think that he pre-judged us based on appearance. I hate to say it, but my house isn't that big, and I opened the door holding baby with three other kiddos behind looking like frumpy mom. Not to mention our front door has chipped paint and I've been waiting until jungle season is over to repaint it. So, he likely just thought "oh these people are just in it for free ice cream." I'm guessing he wouldn't guess I was married to a professional with a good income. Sigh.

Which just irks the crap out of me. Why couldn't have the guy just been nice, polite? He could have spent the time telling me how delicious and convienient the food is. Now I'm totally turned off to ordering in the future.

And, the irony, DH warned me that something like this might happen. Not because he knew of the company before, but he just figured the guy worked on commission and may not have a good attitude about 'working for free'.

too bad that happened. if you don't want him to come any more you should call shwans and tell them. i think they have to leave you alone if you request it.

i am like you where i plan to order on a situational basis..but it will all depend on what the delivery guy is like....which i should be finding out one week from today.

also, i told someone about this offer and then their delivery was supposed to be yesterday and they still have not got their dleivery or heard anything....wonder why? seems like if they want new customers they better get their act together.

Our delivery guy called this morning to see if we would be home today. He was originally was supposed to come on the 17th.
But today was a good day since we're just getting stuff done around the house so we told him that was fine.

He was SO nice! No pressure at all. He handed my 4 yr old the box of ice cream bars and handed me a catalog, just in case I wanted to order anything in the future. He was very nice and SO polite! He was totally fine with handing us our free ice cream bars and wishing us a nice afternoon.

There was one more thing that DH wanted and I asked the driver if he had it on his truck & he did.. so we bought that & I paid by credit card. Then he realized he had accidentally overcharged us a dollar (I didn't notice..) so he went back to his truck and found a dollar to give to me.
But I can guarantee that if the driver had been rude or pushy, I would not have bought anything at all.

All in all.. very happy with our driver and the experience.
He gave us some nice coupons and his cell phone number & the dates he would be in the area. So I can either order online or give him a call on those dates to ask him to stop by.
We'll definitely order again in the future

Mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I am so tempted to try some of the other foods that people here have been raving about. I might have to buy something else from him when he comes.
