Anyone not like wool? Just curious.

It seems like so many mamas are singing praises to wool. Myself included. So I was just curious, I guess. Has anyone ever tried wool and NOT liked it. Why not?

I did not use wool.

It was not something that was front and center to the market when I was diapering. I also have sensitivities to wool fibers and they make my eyes itchy.

I do bring pieces in for certain shower baskets and or for gifting baby gifts. I think it is wonderful and the overall natural benefits to the diapering environment are nothing less than superior. It does come with a price though. Some see it as overpriced, but understanding the fiberarts as a fiber artist -- I will note that most people are getting a great deal for the time involved in a well knit/crochet piece of diaper art.

I would like to use wool - but every wool soaker I've touched has felt itchy to me. I'm assuming if it's itchy to me it will probably be itchy to the baby.

I have some wool covers (biobottoms) and I like them, but I'm not singing the praises of them. Don't get me wrong, they have never failed me or anything, but neither have my thirsties covers. I just use them whenever but don't love love love them or anything. I hate when they get a little poop on them though because it means washing them and lanolizing them again and I dislike taking those extra steps (even though it doesn't take too long) but anything extra is just too much sometimes. I'm very ambivalent to wool and I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone new to CDing.

I had a couple of wool covers, and used them on occasion, but the maintenance seemed high to me and I'm very lazy. And yes, I also have wool "issues" and none of them felt particularly soft to me.

Not a huge fan of wool. Too high maintainence for me.

I actually have a lanolin sensitivity and since there's no way to know ahead of time if babe will share my sensitivity (and since I'd need to wear gloves to diaper the babe even if babe was fine with lanolin) we don't "do" wool. I admit I like the look of some bottom-sweaters, but there are other options out there.

I don't like trying to clean food off the outside. Once a baby is eating food I get so stressed about handwashing stuff out of it. It is an ongoing thing around here. I worry about the outside, dh reminds me of what is going on inside the diaper...

you know, years and years of being around cloth diapers and cd products and I never ONCE thought about food staining issues.
excellent point

My DD is allegic to lanolin so wool was out for us and will be for the next baby or my poor dd will break out everytime she touches her sibling. honestly I also wasn't a huge fan. Too high maintaince and though I realize its very breathable 115 and wool just don't seem to go well together...

wool itches me, even really nice fancy wool, so i don't use it. i have bought too many nice wool sweaters only to see them languish after one use...

I wanted to use wool, but both kids screamed when I put wool covers or shorts on them. It was just a total no go. Even "softer" wool was apparently too itchy for them

We don't do wool, I am also allergic to lanolin... like another poster said, wearing gloves to diaper the baby/do anything with him seems very unfun!!
