Rosetta Stone Personal vs. Homeschool version

Anyone have any opinions on these? I didn't get a good feel on the website for what exactly is different about them. Do the differences matter? My 4 yo dd wants to learn Portuguese and I see the homeschool versions for pretty cheap on Ebay, like $129 including shipping for all 3 levels.

Gosh I was just looking at it after your post....I mean, I would want the homeschool version. But those cheap ones look like...bootlegs...lol. They don't seem to have all the materials or mention 'new in box' or anything. I think it's a copy onto a dvd. I don't know if it includes the printables from what is written in the description.

There was a recent thread, either here or elsewhere, that talked about Rosetta Stone on ebay being a scam. Not just bootleg - they never received it at all.

I plan on purchasing through Sonlight.

I think I read that selling on E-Bay was a violation of the copyright; perhaps you need to be an "authorized seller."

I got our Rosetta Stone home school edition, Spanish on Amazon. I did levels 1-3 to start. Big investment but big thumbs up. I love it. My kids are 5 and 6. I wish I spent more time on it myself.

I have the homeschool version but have not used the extra homeschool portion. I kind of wish I had just purchased the regular version from the book store and used my 20% teachers discount. If you want the worksheets though, get the homeschool version.

I also never use the homeschool portion. You do get the worksheets, which might be helpful when the kids get older - and I might go through and do them to keep my skills fresh.

I have a coupla $20 intro versions of Roseta Stone in different languages. None of them play on my new computer, which has Windows 7 (). I tried to look it up online & it said there was no known fix. So, I wouldn't recommend buying used without knowing for sure it'll work with your OS.

What was the link supposed to explain? I am very curious about the difference too.

Basically I wonder if purchasing a little at a time is good --if it works as well. We have our hearts set on starting languages with French, moving on to Spanish and then we dream of adding other languages if the girls are into it...
