40 weeks and all's hell?

Thread Starter
Who else is past 40 weeks and watching the clock tick?

40+3 here (off my second uncertain EDD), I went 40+6 with DD but I'm really trying not to assign any expectations to this. Or ascribe meaning to every little potential early labor sign. Or entertain the random formulas for my baby's birthdate and auspicious dates that pop up as the days pass...i.e., moon phase, tricky numerical combinations like 8-7-09, my cousin's boyfriend's sister's grandma-in-law's wedding anniversary. And so on.

Oh, and I'm officially sanctioned for punchy responses to anybody who dares inquire if I'm still pregnant, if it's baby time, if I somehow had a baby and I just DIDN'T TELL YOU. So far this week I've ignored phone calls and IMs and Facebook wall posts, told people that I'm pretty sure it's illegal for them to ask, replied to "When are you due?" with "On his birthday".

On the plus side, DD (19 mo) and I are getting lots of quality time under house arrest. She's been so sweet on me, I think she knows our days are numbered. I have a feeling she also knows when Rosie is coming, but she's not talking. :

I'm 40 weeks today so I guess it doesn't count yet but I'm there with you, mama. Seriously, if one more person asks me if I had the baby yet while staring at my enormous bump, I'm going to scream. And don't ask me how I'm feeling, either. I feel like I'm 40 weeks pregnant, that's how I feel. Sigh. I shouldn't rant...patience will get me farther but I'm just ready for this little guy to show up!

I'm am 36 and 3 and people ask me all the time, so when is the baby coming. How the heck should I know, baby has not told me.

I'm just about 38 weeks and blah. I really do want the baby to hang on until at least the 19th when my friend gets here...but man, I have to admit, I am so over being pregnant. SO FREAKING OVER IT.

I'm coming up on 38 weeks and I'm too miserable to be this far away from my due date. I managed to stay cheery up until now but the floodgates have opened and I'm really going to gravely injure the next person who tells me I look like I am "about to pop".

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow. The daily "is he here yet" calls have started for us :... DH will be changing our voice mail later today

My SISTER is doing that to me now. She should know better, she's 34 weeks pregnant with baby #2! I'm ready to kill her if she asks again.

what is it about the popping comment. I mean is that how a baby comes out? Do I just all of a sudden pop? I mean seriously.

What is it with family calling and asking if you're had the baby? I mean don't they think we'll call them to let them know?

40 weeks + 5 days here, and NO signs of labor. My DD was born right on her due date, so I'm getting really impatient as well as frustrated with well-meaning friends and family. I am uncomfortable and weepy and just want to be DONE- I have to go for another biophysical profile and NST tomorrow with my least-favorite Dr in the practice, and I'm just hoping and praying that the full moon tonight will put me into labor!

I'm 39 +3 and am so sick of being pregnant. I haven't had many 'signs' aside from false frigging labor for the past 2+ weeks... I'm so done. I just want this little guy to pop out so I can get on with my life and stop having contractions ALL the time!!

I'm not quite even 37 weeks and 2 days and when I tell people this baby is comin soon they smile and say "You couldn't be possibly be big enough yet" and that is SOO anoying, I may be a petite person and Look small but how do I respond to that?

I'm not sure which is worse, people telling you that or acting like you are the hugest fattest pregnant woman in existance. My step mom has routinely sent me mumus in size 4x. Seriously. And, ftr, I am like a size L or XL.

Oh I hear ya!
I am going to kill someone if they ask me if I had the baby yet. Today I didn't reply to a whole bunch of phone calls and messages.
I made the mistake of thinking my third baby would be like my first two and arrive 38-39 weeks and told everyone late July.
Now, Aug 6th.....hmmm, at 39+ and pretty miserable in pain, prodromal or early labor phase, back pain, all the things you all are feeling.
Added to that a mom who came all the way from NY to "help" but is now waiting around and getting on my nerves when I just want to be alone.
Venting!
Well, I know the end is in sight and I think that on Aug 11th I will be begging for membranes stripping or something!
Due date is 12th and I realize baby will come when he is ready, BLA BLA BLA - sick of hearing that from my DH too!
I am so so over this!
Praying for all of us!
