dawn

I see people talking about using dawn directly in the washer-- is that really ok for the washer? I have a small top loading washer. I do have to strip my diapers occasionally (mostly pockets and AIOs and either hemp or microfiber inserts) for stinking and leaking issues after a month or so. would this help with that?

my wash routine is tide regular on hot wash, then an extra hot wash to rinse very well. I wash every 2-3 days and dry pail but will wet and wring out explosive diapers.

Assuming that your washer's 'tub' (for lack of better terminology) is stainless steel, I can't see how it would be harmful. That, and the fact that when you use Dawn it's just a tiny amount in comparison to the amount of reg laundry soap that normally gets cycled through. Are you worried about rust or corrosion?

I'm new to CDing, but when I went to strip my new PFs I used a method from diaperswappers involving boiling w/ Dawn and it worked fabulously. It saved me an additional 5 loads of washing machine loads.

Lots of people do it, including me and I haven't heard anyone say their washer had issues with it. You don't want to use too much, though. I just squirt a little w/o measuring.

I've used Dawn several times with no problems. Just squirt a little in, and rinse until the suds are gone. It works great!

Agreed! I've had no problems with either my washer or my diapers when using Dawn as an occasional means of stripping the diapers. Works great!

yes - make sure to find original dawn cuz that doesnt have any of the extra crap in it - but its a life saver, i use it atleast once a month. wont hurt your washer at all - i have the cheapest top loading washer available, i doubt its stainless steel!
