Does my poop stink?

I always hear fomula poop stinks, and breatmilk poop doesn't. But my baby's breastmilk poop does smell bad. It's not the end of the world or anything, but it just makes me curious. My baby was born 5 weeks early, and is now 3 mos and one week old. I do eat a lot of dairy, but he doesn't seem to have any trouble for it. What do you ladies think about your baby's poop smell?

I would never say that bf baby poo doesn't stink. It just isn't that "offensive" smelling to most. I've never smell "formula poo" so I can't compare, but if you've ever changed a 2 year old, the bf poo smell can be heavenly compared to that!

In our house, it varies. A lot of the time it isn't bad and I hardly even notice it. But then sometimes, I open the diaper and it's like "Gaaah! Have you been sneaking in some Indian food between nursing sessions, kiddo?"

it smells heavenly compared to a toddler on solids or a baby on formula!

Ds1 was formula fed and ds2 is ebf. I can't tell any difference in their poop. They both stink. It does smell 100x better than toddler poop though.

I think people mean it doesn't stink *nearly as much* as formula or toddler poop.

LOL VERY TRUE
With my twins I didn't think breastmilk poo was 'sweet smelling' as my mom called it. I actually hated the smell.
Now that they are toddlers (than heavens they are potty trained now) and I have a newborn I almost like the smell of his poop. lol Its 'sweet smelling' to me now.
But to answer posters question - I notice if my son poops after holding it all night it has a more sulfur smell to it. When he poos throughout the day it is less sulfur-smelling. To me, the smell isn't offensive at all.
However my sister's 3 month old only poops every 3 days or so and she said when he finally poops it is very foul.

Before starting solids, I found DS's poop to have a not unpleasant sweet smell. Now that he's on solids, it does smell worse, but it nearly always goes in the toilet and not a diaper, since we EC. If you don't like the smell of baby poop, I highly recommend you check out the elimination communication forum - EC is awesome!!!

Both my kids were EBF. My ds had typical baby-poop smell. Not too stinky, sort of sweetish.

My dd, on the other hand, was the stinkiest baby imaginable. Imagine diapers that make you gag and almost constant, powerful "old-man eating-nothing-but-baked-beans-and-garlic" farts! It was amazing.

She also only pooped once a week. She was in no discomfort, she just smelled like a rotten egg factory most of the time. We used to joke that we would have to get her a dog so that she had someone to blame it on.

Strangely, as soon as she started eating solids, the farts and the super-stink went away and she started pooping twice a day.

She now has typical smelly toddler-poop.

My kiddo stinks...lol He is 10 weeks old, and I think if there were an open flame in the house, it would blow up. You can smell it from like 4-5 feet away. He of course thinks it's hilarious because every time he poops he'll smile the biggest smiles ever and do this little chuckly laugh. (Either he thinks it's funny, or he gets high off the fumes...lol)

DD poop is downright rank. A few times it smelled like buttered popcorn, but most of the time it smells like nuclear waste lol.

Thanks, everyone! I feel better knowing that it's allowed to have a smell.

I do EC, and I just took baby to the potty for a poo. I could almost smell the buttered popcorn - sort of like buttered popcorn with a side of eggs!
