My MIL as telling me about a new one that is from over seas and is very controversial in the US anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yes, it's Bebe Gloton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqYoZVroBZs

I thought it was a really sweet idea! I never saw anyone breastfeeding when I was growing up and thought all babies were fed with bottles.

I watched a news clip and the broadcaster thought it was "weird," "creepy" and not appropriate for a young girl which is really sad. I mean, isn't it great for a young girl to learn how to nurture a baby and be aware of what her body can do?

Just saw it on the net. LOVE IT! I searched and the only place I found that you can reserve one is on ebay. It would be shipped at the end of October.

I watched Fox News's segmenton the doll and was very disappointed at their responses. Even the doctor on the show commented that he thought it started the maternal instinct to early and related it to teaching sex ed in first grade instead of seventh. Implying that he thought both were inappropriate. UGH!

I heard about it yesterday and they turned it into a creepy, sexualized thing. : I was pissed off for several hours afterwards.

Yeah why not a breastfeeding doll? How weird of people to be put off by this. My daughter carries her baby around and nurses her baby - usually the baby's is upside down though. lol

I saw it on the Today Show. Hoda and Kathie Lee were just absolutely appalled. I was so mad! Isn't it ridiculous the things that bother people in our society? Strip joints and topless bars are acceptable and breastfeeding your child is not.

I didn't see any news articles, but just read a blog about it on the Washington Post site:

Obviously, I totally disagree that it's creepy or weird - I just think it's unnecessary. I fully believe my 2yo will pretend to nurse her babydolls when I'm nursing her new little brother in a few weeks, and I imagine lots of siblings of nursed babies would do the same. And they don't need a doll to pretend to do it...

I'm with KLM - it's not creepy or weird, just not necessary. My 3 yo DS has a Care Bear that he calls his baby and he nurses that from time to time. Being exposed to it in the real world will eliminate the need to have a "practice" doll.

: I have seem plenty of little girls do this on their own. It's their nature to nurture and want to feed a baby, but is it really necessary to have a special doll and a bra complete with little nipple-buds? I think not!
