my full moon baby boy

Our baby boy came into the world at 3am on Aug 6, the night of the full moon. We named our guy Zev, which means wolf (in honor of the power of the moon), and he measured in at 8lbs 8oz. Here he is with the diagonal blanket you mamas suggested I make.

That eve I was so done being pregnant I asked dp to run out and get a bottle of wine so I could have a glass and relax already (the best advice I ever got). I had a tiny glass and started having cntrxns an hour later! All told it was about a 3 1/2 hour labor that involved walking around under a full moon, laboring in the tub, and finally just a few pushes to bring our guy into the world. My labor was really manageable right up until the end when I was sure I was going to split wide open. The birth center midwives were stupendous and our 5 yo was able to be there with a dear friend. I had expected my second birth to be a replica of my 1st but it was totally different. Longer for one, and then suddenly very quick at the end. My water broke as his head emerged and he screamed loudly before his body was even out!

You know what's funny? I was so eager to finish the pregnancy that I totally forgot that the best part of all is not just having a comfortable body again, but being with a newborn. He is so precious and we are in love. Newborns are amazing delicious little creatures. Here's wishing you all powerful, productive labors all around. What an amazing experience...

What an awesome story, of his birth during the full moon. And a great birthday (as it is mine also ). August 6 is the Day of Unique Happenings astrologically.
