dog has growth on paw

My dog has a growth on his paw. I just noticed it today. He has been licking his paw for the past week and I didn't really think too much about it. I just clipped him a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice anything then, and it is as though it has popped up overnight. It is round, pink, about the size of a large pea, and looks rough. It isn't smooth over the surface and has deep grooves running through it. Obviously I will be taking him to a veterinarian asap. But if anyone has had any exp. with this type of thing and can offer me any advice as to what it might be I would love to hear from you. TIA.

Just to maybe reassure you, our doggie had the same thing develop, sort of. It was a black growth on his paw that looked like a large skin tag. He licked it a lot too, at first, but then seemed to get used to it. Doc said nothing to worry about. That was years ago and it has stayed exactly the same.

My labmix had something similar...was a cyst or something. We soaked it in epsom salts and gave some antibiotics.
