Anyone who delayed or no-vax had a child get sick? - Page 2

Good question.

I think DS had Rota a few months ago although we never went to the MD so it could have just been a run of the mill bug. DH and myself got it too.

I noticed several posters said their child has had Rubella. I wonder if DS had had it. He has had several "rashes" which have been accompanied by a fever and runny nose and 1 that was just a rash by itself. I have googled pics of Rubella, but it's so hard to tell. Unless you had a lab confirmation, how did you all know it was Rubella?

The reason I suspect is because the rash came AFTER the fever broke, which is unusual with viral rashes. Also, the rash started on his head and moved down, whereas other viral rashes tend to start on the trunk and move out. And it lasted exactly 3 days, hence "3 day measles".

Otherwise, you're right, the rash is nothing special. I even took him to the dr and the dr said "it's so hard to tell, we don't even try to diagnose specific viruses anymore, we just treat the symptoms." Unfortunately, becasue of his immune deficiency, we can't test titers to see if it was Rubella (a normal child would show immunity without having received the vaccine if they had a natural infection). But I'm working off the assumption that it was.

DD (15 months) has never been sick. The VPD I know she was exposed to was Pertussis (I had it). We are non-vaxing.

My siblings and I all had measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox. None of them were a big hassle except for my mother who had to nurse us through them

If we had pertussis we never had symptoms. We were a non-vaxing family. My oldest brother was born in 1944, the youngest in 1957.

We are trying to get cp for our grandchildren but even thought they've been exposed several times, they are a no-show. The kids must be immune already.

My oldest granson has measles but that was 10 days after the vaccine (which was his last).

I had all the childhood diseases. We never called a doc (in my generation that not necessary) so, I don't know for sure what I had but I am still here.

DD, DH and I all had pertussis when DD was 3. DH and I have been vaxed for it.

I suspect both kids have had rubella, but like others say, no real way to prove it.

I, and almost the entire kindergarten had CP when I was teaching. This was after the vax was mandatory so I would have to say it did not work very well. I did not have the vax (I was scheduled to get the vax the week I got sick. I did not know what I know now!)

My mom tells me I had the measles as a kid. I was fully vaxed.

I think my son had rotavirus...though I never took him in to confirm it. He had vomiting and diarrhea for about ten days. It was disgusting, but as long as he was kept hydrated with breastmilk, not a problem. Though, for next time, I think I might use disposable dipes, b/c washing those stinky dipes every hour was no joke.

I had M M and R...I was vaccinated up the wazoo and still don't show immunity to Rubella!
