better for DS to stop or keep going?

I was on the fence about the varicella vaccine, but went ahead with it after hearing that it can affect a boy's fertility and with decreased natural varicella he may be at higher risk of not coming in contact with the disease until he is older and develops shingles. After reading the article in the current mothering issue, I really wish I hadn't. Do you think it would be ok to not get the booster? Will this one vaccine make it even less likely that he will contract the natural disease until later in life? Will it be better for him in the long run to finish out the series in that case?

If it were me, I wouldn't give him any boosters and I'd keep my eyes open for a pox party.

I agree. The vaccine is pretty ineffective to begin with. I know SOOOOOO many kids who have been vaccinated and get CP anyway. I's skip the booster

Yeah, I think I'd skip the booster and try to seek out natural chicked pox. If he gets to his pre-teen years and hasn't been exposed to natural chicken pox, you might consider having his titers checked and then re-evaluating the booster then.

Remember, though, that he can be exposed to chicken pox and not break out in obvious spots, but it might be just enough to prime his immune system so that the titers will show immunity.

I skipped the boosters for my older DS He was completely vaxed to 2 years old. When my younger DS got CP the older one still didn't get it. I really wish DS would have gotten CP now he may get it when he is older because the vax will eventually wear off. It's really hard to say what really happened was the vax effective or maybe did he pick it up from DS and just didn't show symptoms. I don't know but I don't reqret skipping the booster.

Chicken pox? That is the justification for the mumps vaccine, but I have not heard that in reference to the chicken pox vax.
