Yes, many many things can cause pain during intercourse...but nowhere (and I went through all the links) is male circumcsision even mentioned.

It is always the woman's problem...Urrrg!

heh, whats interesting is you get annoyed at that, because its basically putting the blame on the woman. While I get annoyed at that because by not saying that it could be the mans fault, they are also saying basically using the same old logic that penis is no more complex an organ then a knob at the end of a broom stick. That its no big deal to cut big chunks of it off because its suuuuuch a simple organ.

And because its soooo simple, it could never be the cause of any of the problems. It gets me annoyed that so many people view the male body this way.

That's what I am saying...they blame the woman when it could totally be the fault of a circumcised penis. But it's not even mentioned.

I think if more woman (and men) knew and understood where the dryness and pain was coming from...if the media and medical profession were honest about it, many fewer boys would have to suffer and many future couples would avoid needless suffering as well.

Well not just circumcised penises, intact ones too. People generally simply the penis in general. As its too simple to have problems, or its soo easy to understand and deal with.

Hell circumcisions are the "practice" surgery that doctors do when they first get into doing surgeries sometimes. Meaning its soo simple, any guy off the street could do this. *Shakes head*

As a matter of fact, some do.

My pain isn't caused by circumcision

It seems to be related to my fibromyalgia. I suffer from bouts of vulvodynia and have never had pain free sex due to constant (although sometimes it is worse than other times) vulval vestibulitis. Honestly, the vulvodynia thing, a bad bout will feel literally like my whole groin area has been set on fire and all I can do is lie there, not wearing anything, with loads of yoghurt smothered everywhere while crying my eyes out.

That said, I think its ruddy stupid not to mention circumcision as a potential cause of painful sex because to me, it just makes sense!

Whoa! Did they just circumcised those women? "Removed nerve endings at the opening of the vagina."

I've never experienced pain or dryness due to circumcision ... and, to be honest, I've never heard of this as a reason until I came to mothering and read about it on this board. Which just goes to show you how little information there is available on this!

It makes sense to me now - after all, when you remove something, it affects function. And sex is a function you do with another person - ergo, it can affect that other person too.

Its called a vestibulectomy and I managed to avoid it as pregnancy drastically improved things (but its been going down hill again). Its a recognised treatment however it is supposed to be a last resot and generally, the effects don't last that long so I guess its a kind or circumcision.

Their are some women as well who opt for some of their clitoris or clitoral hood to be lopped off due to too much hyper sensitivity or the clitoral hood causing issues with lessened sensitivity. Then of course, there are the women who have larger than average labias who choose to have them 'shortened', not just for cosmetic reasons but also for comfort reasons and to reduce the number of infections etc they get (which can apparently be caused by over large labias).
