Dumb Question: What do Mennonite Mamas wear? (not old order)

Hi Mamas, I just officially joined our church and I just got the smack down about my 'cleaveagey tops' at Bible Study.

I'm already all about the Jean skirts, I have heard that the Mennonite Mamas in places like Lancaster rock a certain 'uniform' my question is: what is it, mostly regarding tops?

It depends on what group, really.

Many wear vests over blouses, or jumpers.

What I often wear (though I'm no longer mennonite) are high-necked tank tops or t-shirts with a button down shirt on the top. That covers the double layer thing, eliminates cleavage views, and avoids any "cling" issues since the knit fabric is underneath the blouse.

Oh see I didn't even KNOW about the double layer thing! Thanks! <3 We are Mennonite Church USA, so yk, I thought it was 'anything goes' and I maintain I see women at church in some Hoochie wear, but apparantely once you are a member . . .

Wow, I'm surprised they're making a big deal about it. I wasn't aware they had a particular dress code. hmmm.

Well, you could always just get come tanks in basic colors that have higher necklines, and wear them under your regular tops, if the only issue is cleavage.

It totally depends on the church. TOTALLY. If someone talked to you about your attire, your best bet probably would be to ask that person or to otherwise take note of normative member dress. (Not Mennonite, but my mom was when I was growing up ... around Lancaster, for that matter. And no, there is no regional "uniform," including any standard of double layers or such. Broadly speaking Mennonites pretty much run the gamut when it comes to church clothes.)
