Mother-ease one-size fitteds?

Anyone use Mother-ease one-size fitted diapers?

I have been second-guessing my initial decision to only use prefolds lately (and they haven't even arrived yet, lol). My fear is that with my big, wide babies, the prefolds aren't going to be wide enough to Snappi sufficiently without making it too tight, and I have no interest in using pins. I guess tri-folding without pinning or Snappi-ing can shift and lead to dirty diaper covers, something I'd like to avoid.

I was thinking maybe if I got some one-size fitteds, I could use the prefolds as inserts for extra absorbency at night or when out and about - ? The Mother-ease one-size fitteds seem fairly cheap at something like $11-12.

We have a few and like them. They are not very absorbent, they do work well w/ an infant prefold tri-folded.

I used them with my ds from birth until potty training and loved them! I never had a problem with leaking or fit, I used the snap in liner at night for extra absorbancy. I've passed them on to my sister-in-law who used them for my nephew and is now getting ready to use them again for her baby due next month. IMO, they are the best diaper for the price.

i used motherease one size with both my kids and LOVED them! i usually used two liners and was happy with the absorbency, although i did use fuzzibunz for nighttime because we could get through the night with a change (after they were old enough to not poop with every nurse ) i also LOVE motherease covers. i bought all of them used and they were so cost effective for us - just a great workhorse of a diaper.

with my second, my daughter, i did splurge and buy a dozen fitted newborn diapers and i really liked them - i felt more comfortable with the more narrow crotch fit on a really tiny baby than the MEOS.

Yeah, I'm reading a lot of positive reviews on them so far. I don't know if I could afford as many fitted dipes as I could of the prefolds, but if the prefolds are going to be difficult to fit without resorting to pins, than I don't know.

Plus I am so enamored with the concept of "one size". I really hate staring at pics of sized diapers trying to guess what size I am going to get the most use out of. I bought a bunch of GMD yellow edge prefolds for this new baby, then just yesterday saw a post where someone started their 8 pound newborn off with the red-edge prefolds with no problem. Well crap, I thought. I should have just gotten the red-edge and gotten twice the use out of them. So now I will probably be sending my yellow-edge back once they arrive.

ugh - i totally remember before my first was born, reading all the reviews, etc. and getting so confused and deciding we were going to use AIOs - what a waste! they were awful for us - i ended up selling them on ebay for a loss. at least i had bought them used, so i didn't pay retail, but still - when you are trying to save money, it's so disheartening.

just an FYI - i always had really good luck buying used MEOS for around $5/each. you just have to watch and search. and they are so durable they were always in great condition when i got them with tons of life left. they went for my son up until he was 3 and we started him in them at around 3 mos., so they really do last a good long while. they also went through my daughter and they will be used again, hopefully! and ours were all preused.

the fitted diapers that lasted through the most sizes for us were fuzzibunz mediums.

We use a combo of meos and GMD prefolds. At 6 months we are just on the verge of moving to red edge. The prefolds work great with a snappi but I really like the ME too! My sister is a mom of 7 and the ME were her favorite so we got a bunch from her and some new ones too. Total workhorse diapers! For night we do a prefold and ME combo.

I just sold a mama 3 for $12ppd, w/o liners though. You can definitely find good deals out there.

Well, I posted on the ISO boards both here and at diaperswappers so hopefully some mama somewhere would be willing to help me out. I'm new to both boards though, so don't know if anyone would sell to me.

Yeah, I don't know about that mama. Have a look at them first when you get them - many folks find the infant size prefolds (green edge) to be bulky on their babies and yellow edge are larger than green. I mean you could probably get away with using premium size prefolds, but it sure would be bulky. Starting with the yellow edge means you can probably skip the red edge and go on to the next size after (brown edge, I think?).

Rather than exchanging those, how about buying some flats? Those are really one-size and many mama's love them. A bit more complicated in the folding department though. I have heard great things about Mother Ease though so I'd definitely look into those - new or used if you can find them.

Wow that would be a HUGE relief if it turned out to be the case. Just the idea of only needing to buy two sizes makes me :, lol.

nak

i have them & love them, baby born @ 7.5 lbs, grew quick, now @ 15 lbs or something.

do not regret getting one-size fitteds at all. they're great quality.

however in hindsight would not have gotten the ME covers as i prefer thirsties & BBWWs and sure enough they're better.

I just PM'd a mama on diaperswappers.com who is selling four. I have never used FSOT boards before, so the whole endeavor is new to me, but if I can get together a handsome stash of MEOS used -- well that just makes me feel better still about CDing!! To my mind, it just seems like fitteds would work best once baby becomes mobile, kwim? I can see prefolds and Snappis being perfect for newbies, but once they're scooting, it just seems like you need something a little less shifty, if that makes sense? I have Thirsties DUO Wraps on order so wasn't planning on buying more covers for now, but thanks for the insight!!

Once you get the snappi down, prefolds probably won't be too shifty. You just have to snappi that bad boy tight.

if you go to the motherease website they have a forum where people sell the diapers. there's a lot of 9 one size diapers on there now selling for 55$.

This is my second babe and I got fitteds for this very reason. Hope to use them as trainers and use them through potty-learning. We EC and I wanted to be able to un-snap one side, pull them down, potty the baby, and re-snap. They've been GREAT for that.

I don't have any of the motherease diapers - just a cover & find the quality not all that fabulous compared to my other covers (mommy's touch). I would guess the dipes would be the same.

I have a chunky little guy (he's currently 25lbs at 9mos) & have no problems with the snappi. That said regardless of the fold I use & pins or snappi or just fold in cover it is rare that bm poop doesn't end up on the cover.

The covers are nothing like the diapers. Covers are not their forte. The dipes are great. I do not like Bummis dipes, love the covers. I do not think that the same companies do covers and dipes well.

This happened w/pre-folds all the time w/my first, but never happens w/ME one-sizes w/my new one, despite her having bigger poops earlier.

I like both MEOS and prefolds.

Well I got my 30 yellow edge GMD dipes, and of course I couldn't part with them once I had them in-hand, lol. I spent the whole day prepping them and then diapering DS's teddy bear so I could practice different folds and Snappi-ing. My Snappis seem to be very grippy little buggers! I have faith that they will hold on a prefold pretty darn well, lol. It's the getting the Snappi OFF that seems trickier to me (at least on a teddy bear, lol).

Also, I now officially have an FSOT board addiction, lol. I ordered four MEOS that should arrive Monday if not sooner. In the process of ordering 9 more from another seller. Seriously, who knew you could get dipes so cheap?!? Ohmygosh - it's a beautiful thing!!!!
