I woke up this morning with chills, muscle aches, and nausea... and a very very sore right breast. I didn't sleep well last night and I ended up throwing up this morning. I've managed to keep some food down and the nausea has gone away... but the breast pain is still there. I've massaged, hot showered, cold compresses, and made her nurse.. but it's hard to make a 14 month old nurse more often when she only nurses at naptime during hte day (she's an all-night nurser though). any other thoughts? What can I do?

Oh no mama! I haven't had mastitis but I have had 2 clogged milk ducts. Both times it took me the better part of 2 days to free them. I just kept massaging (deep and hard -it hurt) and heat on them but I had to keep pumping with the hand pump to get them free. I was on all fours in shower, pumping with one hand massaging with the other with the shower sprayer laying on the floor spraying up on my chest, it was a PITA. If you have a SO that is willing to help, that would probably work better. I think my SIL kept her mastitis at bay by eating raw, crushed garlic cloves (3 a day) and lots of vit c.
