I don't have experience tye dying with kool aid, but I've used kool aid to dye yarn in a tye dye fashion. I used wool and added a splash of vinegar to some kool aid and water. Then I wrapped the bundles in plastic wrap and steamed them for 20 minutes. Another time I soaked the yarn in the dye in mason jars in the solar oven. It worked great, the colors were almost TOO bright

Changin' cherry was my favorite color, an earthy green. I think to dye with kool aid you have to dye a protein fiber- wool or silk- but it's likely I'm wrong- I don't have experience trying anything other than wool. Looking forward to hearing how it goes!
