Yay! So, on friday I went to my midwife appointment and she stripped my membranes ~3:30... I'd been having contractions since 1ish but honestly didn't believe it was really labor. By the time we got there my contractions were 3-4 mins apart but just 40ish seconds long...
So, she broke my water ~7:30, and then I hung out in the rocking chair and DH & my doula rubbed my feet and we chatted and put essential oils on my feet/ankles for a couple hours... I got into the tub (with jets
at 9:30 and got out ~10:30... sat on the toilet and had a few contractions... my doula said I was in transition, I went, got on the bed laying on my right side... and he was born after 4 pushes at 10:50!!
:
: He weighed 6# 9.4oz and was 19.5" long!!!
He latched on about 20-30 mins after he was born and has been nursing like a pro ever since. Its SUCH a nice change from my first DS, who had MAJOR latch issues for the first week or two (we stayed in the hospital for the first 3-4 days actually because of latch issues...).
My fears about the hospital turned out to be totally completely unfounded... when I first got there they had me sit on the bed for 20 mins while they monitored my contractions, but then they just came and check on the baby every hour with the fetal doppler wherever I was (even in the tub
, which was awesome. The staff was just very hands off and let me do my thing... just came and checked on us every now and then... Apparently they had 5 babies in a 13 hour period - this in a place with just 7 beds!! So, yeah, overall a GREAT labor and a WONDERFUL birth
