My Water Broke

My water broke! It broke about 2.5-3 hours ago. It's just been a slow trickle, so it took me about an hour to really believe that's what happened. We were out running errands (at BRU of all places buying DD#1 a new car seat). Labor definitely hasn't started (I've had pre-labor for weeks, but I'm not having any more or harder contractions now than I was having a few days ago).

Things are calm here, and I'm happy and excited. I've eaten, I'm staying hydrated, and I've spoken with my midwife and forewarned our support team. Now I need to try to rest... We'll see how that goes.

I'll update when I have more to say.

Happy labor and birthing vibes your way! You will be holding sweet little Lyra in your arms before you know it.

Yah, how exciting! Remember, labor might not start for a while and that's OK! My best friend had her water break and didn't deliver her baby for 5 days. There's no need to actually deliver unless you get a fever. Many doctors and midwives rush to get a baby out when it's really not necessary. Good luck and good vibes!!! :::

That is so exciting!! I had my water break and I had some contractions with it, but not serious labor for several hours. I totally think sleep is a good idea. I didn't get any because I was so excited.

Not really going yet. I've had some very real contractions, but not regular ones at all. All is calm here. We're all ready. DD is taking a very weird late late nap, which I think is likely very good. I'm restless, not at all interested in lying down.

My mom decided to get on the road and come. I think I'm glad that she'll be here. She lives about 5-6 hours away and we didn't expect her to have any chance of making the birth. She missed DD#1's birth by about 1-2 hours and she got on the road as soon as I told her I thought this might be it. DD#1 will be very glad to have her here I'm sure.

And here's DD waking up.

That is just how it was with this baby. I thought it went well because the dilating was so "easy" (as easy as labor can get.)
