Birth Playlist?

Thread Starter
I have never successfully gotten music on while I am in labor, but it helps me so much in life that I REALLY want to make sure I do this time, and that I have some great songs on my playlist.
I like all kinds of music, except rap.
I'm looking for suggestions on upbeat, empowering songs to help me through labor.
Thanks!

I'm waiting for more on this. My last birth was so fast that we didn't even have time to think about music. I want to have a play list together this time, even if we don't use it.

I'm not pregnant yet - still ttc but I've already been giving this some thought. I'm thinking of some Sheila Chandra. I just love her soulful chanting. I have her CD 'A Bone Crone Drone'. But I'd like more. I also have a CD called 'Trance Tara' which is the chant to Tara repeated the full 180 times. So that's in the running as well. I've toyed with the idea of some VAS but worried it might get to be too much at some point. I've also thought of maybe using some of Steven Halprin's stuff. And lastly I have a CD of healing sounds by Andrew Weil and Kimba Arem - I think it's call 'self healing with sound and music' or something like that. It's incredibly relaxing so I think it's be good. Plus we use it for massage at home so I think I'd associate it with friendly relaxing stuff. I'd be very interested to read other's suggestions and/or experiences with music during labour and birth! Like what worked, what didn't, etc

I have an "Alison Krauss" station on Pandora and I just find her music, along with the other artists who tend to play on there, very comforting. Last fall I had the flu REALLY bad. I basically laid on the futon and drifted in and out of consciousness and that station on Pandora played the whole time and I just focused on the music and it helped a lot. So I am planning on fine tuning my Pandora preferences for this station and having it play during labor.

This was us with DS. This time, with DD, I had the CD loaded and ready to go. I wanted music that was upbeat to me, which is not something relaxing like Enya. I had Santana's Winning, Simple Minds' Alive and Kicking, and New Radicals (?) You Get What You Want. Also, Queen's Under Pressure, plus some John Cougar and Bruce Sprinsteen. I'm a country fan so there was some of that as well.

My L&D for DD was two hours and I vividly remember hearing the music. I loved it!
