Conversation with my husband

When DH was born, they thought he might have a bleeding disorder, so he wasn't cut. His father and 2 brothers both are. I'm thrilled that he's intact (sex really is better with an uncut guy) and now that I'm expecting, I asked him some questions.

Q - When you were little, did you notice that you were "different" from your dad
A- *laugh* Yes... I noticed that his was ten times my size! That was what made the impact and I asked if I would grow.

Q - Ok, what about your brothers?
A - Yeah, I did - I was about 5 and I asked my mom. She explained that my brothers had that piece of skin cut off and asked me if I wanted to look the same. I ran out of the room screaming that nobody would cut off my pee-pee.

Q - You were an athlete in a midwestern high school. Did you ever get picked on in the locker room?
A - Once. I told everyone the guy had been staring at my junk, and nobody else would dare comment from there!

Q - Did you ever consider being circumcised as an adult?
A - Hell no. Circumcision is barbaric, disgusting and unnecessary. I'm grateful for the bleeding disorder that 'saved' me as a kid. I wish all kids could be born with the same disorder.

Q - What would you do if I wanted to have our baby boy circ'ed?
A - I would fight you, and probably stand in the doc's way. I would never let someone do that to my son.

By the way, my husband is NOT "dirty", his penis doesn't look "Gross", and he never had problems with infections of any kind. His mother is now a convert, and wishes she'd been able to made the same decision with his brothers.

Just thought I'd share!

(I hope I have a boy!!!)

Hehe, I just read this. Cool conversation. And I'm glad that you're having a boy!

Isn't it said that sometimes for a boy to stay intact it takes something else being wrong?

(Luckily with me nothing was wrong at birth, but rather I had a mother who realized how horrible circ was by witnessing one in the hospital when my oldest sister was born.)

I LOLed at his statement that he wished that every boy had a bleeding disorder! I can totally relate to that.

Your lucky husband! and sons!
I hope that he talks about it with other guys as much as possible, any time any sliver of an opportunity comes up. I think it is because people just don't talk about penises and sex and circumcision openly, that the myths go on. Seems everyone knows "someone" who "had to" be circumcised because of "problems." Your DH could be the "someone" they know who has never had any problems and is very happy with his whole, complete body!

How lucky we are in Europe that this procedure never became "fashionable" here!
Hopefully your husband will share this with lots of "pregnant fathers".

How great that is! I'll still never forget the conversation I had with my grandparents. Background, my grandpa was raised by a pretty AP mom who nursed 2+ years, co-slept, didn't circ, all that good stuff. My grandma had my uncle circ'd back in the sixties because intactness wasn't really presented as an alternative. So, the three of us are talking about it and my grandpa says "isn't circumcision supposed to prevent infections and be cleaner?" My grandma says "That's a myth, how many infections have you had?" He got the funniest look and says "None, I've never had one. Why the hell do they even do it then?"

Awesome, congrats on your coming boy!

My DS is intact as well. DH was for circumcision when we were pregnant w/ DD, but I managed to change his mind over time, by the time DS came along.
