I'm worried using a pacifier with ds2 is affecting my supply.

We started using one when he was about 6 weeks old because of oversupply/colic issues. He wanted to suck and then would pull off when I had a letdown, scream, latch on, pull off, etc. He also had reflux/colic issues - spitting up, screaming, gas, the works. Ds1 did the same things but never took a pacifier. I started giving ds2 one when he was done nursing and had pulled off but couldn't settle to sleep and needed to suck - he was able to sleep and didn't wake up every 15 min with tummy pains.

He's now 8 1/2 weeks old and uses the paci a lot when he's sleeping and I'm worried it's affecting my supply. I'm pumping less than he's eating at a bottle feeding - not the best indicator, I know, but enough to make me worried! He's not nearly as expressive as ds1 - who was attached to me 24/7 and SCREAMED whenever he was the least bit hungry - and I'm not sure he's waking up and letting me know when he needs to nurse. For example, if he's napping (sometimes in bed, sometimes on me) and he starts to squirm and I give him the pacifier, he'll often suck a little and then drift right back to sleep. I love that he's sleeping so long but I'm starting to worry that he's not nursing enough and should be sucking at the breast and not the paci.....

I'm also of the camp to not wake a sleeping baby (again, since ds1 never slept, it seemed an obvious thing to me ) However, ds2 often sleeps super long stretches at a time - for example, he slept from 8pm - 4am last night, woke up for the day at 8am, fell asleep again this morning about 10am and is still asleep now at almost 1pm. It's not like this every day but maybe every other day.....

Should I be waking him up and/or encouraging more time at the breast? Or should I just thank the powers that be and stop worrying? Just for the record, he's in the 100th percentile and has LOTS of wet diapers per day so I'm not worried about him starving anytime soon I just worry about my supply. I breastfed ds1 for 2.5 years until I was pregnant again with absolutely no problems and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize not being able to do the same with this little one
