How long is my baby going to be jaundice for?

My baby is 2 weeks old. We did a semi lotus birth and I heard that that can cause more redness, but he is still really jaundice. I am getting sick of people pointing out that he is jaundice. I KNOW HE IS JAUNDICE PEOPLE!!!! Why do people feel the need to point out that he is jaundice?! Drives me crazy.
Whoa where did that come from? I wasn't meaning to vent, just asking other mamas if their babies are still jaundice, and how can I make it go away. I have been setting him in the sun, and I haven't seen much of a difference. His whites of his eyes are yellow too.

DDC Crashing, sorry...
Does it go down his body? My son got it really bad, it was down to his legs, so we had to bring him int othe hospital to go under the lights. He ended up beign there for 3 days and still was yellow for another week+ once we were home. He was finally looking like a child (not an oompa-loompa) by about 3 weeks old.

My baby was REALLY jaundiced at first we had to go back to the hospital because he was urintating bilirubin so much so it was turning his dipers a red/ orange color and it was coming out his eyes like a yellow goop and needed to have a Bili blanket he had really high levels and was borderline neeeding to be admitted after3 days with bili blanket his levels were low enough to cancel using it but he is still slightly yellow and his eye whites are yellow I have just been doing lots on sunshine to help as well.

you might want to go to doc to get blood drawn and get lvls checked it can be quite seriuos if it gets to bad

my babe is 2 weeks old and even after phototherepy he is still jaundiced

Has he seen a doctor at all? You may want to consider bringing him in for bloodwork.

My son was jaundiced for about a week after birth. Lot's of sun and constant nursing Mama.

Is it jaundice or redness? Is his chest yellow, whites of eyes? My babies jaundice peaks on day three and they are red for two weeks maybe before settling into white babies, LOL.

Griffin will be 2 weeks tomorrow and he is still yellow - eyes, chest, belly, limbs. He was last seen a weeks ago and the Dr said all was fine and that he didn't need to be tested unless he gets really really yellow. If you're worried, bring baby in for bloodwork - it's a prick on the foot, not a big deal if it prevents brain damage, IMO!

My dh is Asian, and whenever someone comments on baby's yellow-ness, the running joke is "yes, he's yellow, and he's got jaundice, too!"

My dd2 was jaundiced for about 1.5 weeks... during that time she was tested twice and her levels were always in the "nurse a lot, sun a lot, wait and see if she needs a bili-blanket" range. But it was nerve wracking and not what I expected!

If you're worried, please bring the babe in for a blood test... mama intuition may be telling you something. And certainly if the babe's urine is staining the dipe, or they're not wetting as many dipes as they should, or the yellow coloring is becoming more pronounced or covering more of their skin then get them checked.

I do sun him alot, and he does pee all the time. It has no color to it. Thats good. What I am wondering is if I drink loads of carrot juice, can that make him jaundice, and is that a bad kind of jaundice? My midwife didn't seem concerned about the jaundice at our last check up a few days ago. We don't have a pediatrician yet, but I guess we should get on that. Just dreading taking my 2 yr old and a newborn all by myself.

If you drink alot of carrot juice that can color him, not make him jaundice. How is he, very sleepy? Not sure if he is eve jaundice at all. Do you have current pic?

I would stop the carrot juice and see how things go. Is he really tired? Is he pooping and peeing well? If you are still concerned, get a blood draw to check his bili level. Good luck!

Is he pooping enough? The hindmilk at the end of nursing makes him poop and also cleans out the poop and will help with the jaundice. Is he pooping enough or just peeing? If he isn't pooping enough, maybe just let him nurse on the side after all the foremilk is gone and that might clean him out.....

He poops like 10 time a day!
Another question I have is perhaps it is possible that he could be a little more yellow because my husband is Native American. I never thought of my babys skin being a little different color because my husband is very white. He is 1/3 Cherokee, and I don't know if it is possible for that to shine through in the baby. Plus I don't know what color NA babies are supposed to be.

Now my baby has gunky eyes, but the stuff coming out is yellow/orange color. I was dowsing what my baby would need, and I came up with homeopathic Sepia. I don't know anything about the remedy, but without telling my mother about what one I found, I asked her for advice. She is a homeopath. She came up with for the eyes and the jaundice the same remedy- sepia. We will see how it goes...

You can google sepia, and get loads of info on what the remedy is for. I saw that it was derived form fish, but you know homeopathy, that it is just the essence, not the actual item it is derived from so I am not worried one bit.
The only thing I did know about sepia was that it is commonly used for women after childbirth that ave th bearing down sensation, like you insides are falling out. Sepia can help heal that.
My mother has a great book on how homeopathy deals with childrens issues, physically and emotionally, and sepia fit my child somewhat. I gave sepia early this morning, and after a few hours, I am already seeing a difference in the eye gook.

And about the carrot juice, I stopped that after I thought that may be contributing to the yellow, and it hasn't made a difference in color. I am going to have some again today. I just feel better with my fresh juices.
