Poll on how long your diapers last ???

I'm curious as to how long each diapers actually last. This questions really would be great for those who cloth diapered more than one child. And which system or diaper lasts longest in your opinion?

How long has bumGenius diapers last for you?

How long for the prefolds and covers?

How long has Fuzzi Bunz last?

How long does AIO last?

Which brand is best for long lasting durability?

By my calculations my diapers have gone through around 280 washes so far (13 months). I have an FL that I do not find to be particularly gentle, and I do two wash cycles each time I wash (so actually, you could say they've been through 560 washes so far). I dry in the dryer.

My Fuzzi Bunz, which I bought used, look exactly as they do when I bought them. The snaps are fine, the PUL has no snags, the fleece is not pilly.

My bumGenius OS got sold long ago, so I cannot attest to how they last. When I sold them the aplix was a bit pilly but the dipe seemed to be in good shape otherwise. I think I used them 6 months or so.

The Thirsties Fab Fitteds are nearing end-of-life. Some of the velcro tabs are very frayed at the edges. Some of the velcro along the front of the dipe is coming off on the bottom edge and gapping away from the dipe. There are wear marks (from the washer) at stress points. The color has faded considerably, especially on the one that used to be green. The elastic still seems to be fine though.

The Thirsties pocket AIOs are holding up better than the fitteds. But they seemed better made from the get-go. I find Thirsties as a brand to be very inconsistent, and I think I either got a better batch in the AIOs or I got a worse batch in the fitteds.

The dream-eze fitteds have holes in them. Many holes, at stress points (for example where the soaker is sewn to the diaper). I will have to toss them pretty soon.

For long-lasting durability, out of what I have, I vote for the Fuzzi Bunz. I guess anything with snaps seems to do better (except for the dream-eze, where the snaps are fine but the dipe is falling apart). I guess prefolds would hold up even better. My wool is holding up beautifully and that is about the only thing I'm expecting to resell when we're done, the rest will go FFS. If I were having another babe I guess I would still save most of my dipes, but they are really not looking pretty at this point.

My BG lasted about 8 months before they were un-usable. The elastic was shot and so was the velcro. I have three small kiddos and I expect more from a diaper.

My prefolds started looking a little frayed after around 4 years, but after 5 years they're still going strong, and I expect to use them as wash rags for many years after my kiddos are fully potty trained.

My old-style medium Fuzzi Bunz have been washed three to four times a week for more than four years, continuously. They're a little worn, but still in good enough shape to pass down to a friend's child.

My AIO's-- that depends on the brand. My Kushies were passed down to me, and are still in great shape after five years and three kids. My Blue Penguins were a little worn and had a few holes in the inner fabric, after about seven months, but the elastic and velcro were fully intact and they look fine and work fine, but no longer fit my kids.

I have covers-- motherease, Proraps, Bummis-- that literally look brand-new after many years of use. I have others-- Thirsties, Bumpy Days, Litewraps-- which look a little worn but still work just fine.

I would recommend though the Mother-ease fitteds, as the single most durable diaper I've ever used. They literally look brand-new, as if I just took them out of the box, after hard, hard usage.

In my opinion, CPFs have lasted about 5 years--2 kids worth of diaper changes. I bought some Motherease fitteds used two babies ago and they are still going strong. This baby is a big wetter, and I'll need to buy some more doublers that snap into those soon. I use mostly Bummis Super whisper wrap, wash on hot with the diapers and air dry on the rack. They have lasted 2 kids. The elastic goes first, and the waterproof PUL is still going strong. I could always put new elastic and aplix if I cared.

I just pulled out all our Fuzzi Bunz from my younger dd and the elastic is shot in all of them! She potty trained about 3 years ago. The PUL and fleece still looks good, but the elastic is terrible. Very disappointing. Many of my other brands still look good, but we definitely used the FB's the most.

My DD had a used set of tie dye prefolds, and she was the 3rd owner of them. We used them as infant prefolds and then later as doublers until she stopped wearing diapers all together. After years of use most are fluffy and soft, a couple have small holes starting in the outer layers. I think prefolds last the longest, by far!

Covers, I'm not sure since we only used covers for a short amount of time in each size. I did find that the used Prowrap infant covers I got seemed very durable. So were the motherease covers and the bummis.

We had 2 Thirsties covers and they fell apart after just 3 or 4 months of light use! The velcro came all unsewed.
