Disappointed: Puff cereal has sugar added

We're starting to give our 8 mo daughter finger foods. Someone recommended puff cereal, but it contains sugar! Has anyone else been disappointed by this?

There are no healthy processed cereals. Any "nutrients" they have are artificially added and can actually interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals from good foods. The extrusion process (molding into shapes, etc.) robs it of all the good stuff.

If you are interested in finger foods, try the "Just" foods http://www.justtomatoes.com/. Just peas, Just mixed veggies, Just blueberries, etc. They come in organic varieties as well as conventional. They are freeze dried food. Most in perfect little baby sizes.

We cut up fruits & veggies (either cooked or naturally soft) into tiny pieces. Eventually we introduced meats. DS is an exceptional eater and likes just about everything but spinach.

We use organic puffed rice. There's no sugar added in the brand we buy.

I've read that puffed anything can have ill effects on your health. They're overheated and could be damaging. And I used to think that ricecakes were health-foods:

So, I would be more worried about the "puff" and less about the sugar.

all the "puff" cereal we eat only has one ingriedant (corn, rice, wheat, kamut, spelt etc)

we usually get it in bags in the health food store

We also do puffed rice and puffed millet and there are no other ingredients.
