Ds is going to be starting preschool and they said he needs to have a TB test. He is not vacc'd and I'm wondering if this will fall under the exemption I sign for that? They also reqire the parents to be tested as well which again I'm wondering if that can fall under the exemption? If not Dp and I will take it but do not want to get it done on Ds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It is covered by the exemption in CT...

There is another test that has a much lower rate of false positives, is much more accurate and does not involve injecting toxins into your body. It's called Quantiferon gold. It requires a blood draw (which IMHO, is way better than injecting poisons but still traumatic) and is still pretty expensive. You will have to go look for it since most DR. offices don't even know it exists.

I've contacted the preschool and they are set in he has to have it and it doesn't fall under the exemption (I'm still trying to find out if that's the case) but I have put a call into the Dr's office to see if they can do the other test. Thanks for you help and if anyone else knows about the exemption let me know

I'm actually finding info that supports the exemption form being good for TB as well, yet the director of the preschool states it's mandatory. This preschool is however run thru a grant with the state so I'd think that the state guidelines would be followed?

I'm scouring my links for info....

If they receive any state or federal funding, they must abide by all state exemptions.

I'll post as soon as I locate something

This:

(I/We) affirm that vaccination & injections of any foreign substances and proteins conflict with (my/our) religious beliefs as stated above. Therefore, (I/we) would request that you accommodate (my/our) religious beliefs and practices by exempting (my/our) child from any vaccinations, injections and testing of any kind.

I would print off the complete statute and highlight that part!

Here it is from the Directly from the LA county health dept. If you google California health and safety code 121475-121520 (your county) you should have no trouble finding it directly from your county.

It's section C

Does anyone know if this only applies to schools or what about a hospital setting? I'm joining my county hospitals doula program and they require a TB test. My kids are not vaxxed and I'd rather not inject myself either! I've been searching all day for info on this.....

Check down this link:

I think the exemption still applies...

Youn could also look into the Quantiferon Gold test. It's a blood draw rather than injecting anything.

You should be just fine.

We are in California and use the state exemption for both vax AND the TB test for dd's pre-school and we have NEVER had a problem.

Good luck
