Baby Carriers

Hi,
I am looking into the ergo, beco, and angel pack carriers.
Could anyone give me their opinion on them?
I would like to have it for my newborn.
I am also looking into a hotsling.
I don't like ring slings or anything you have to wrap.
Thanks for any advice.

If you get the ergo and want to use it for an infant you need to get the infant insert as well which is another $25 I think.

Yes, the Ergo needs the infant insert. It's very bulky. The Beco comes with an infant insert, which is a thin panel of fabric that velcros in. I'm not familiar with the Angel Pack.

If you want a pouch, consider the Kangaroo Korner adjustable pouches - they have four rows of snap settings that allow you to adjust the tightness. Convenient for sharing with another person and for enlarging when babe gets bigger. I LOVED my KK fleece pouch when DS was a newborn. Fleece may be too hot, depending on where you are, but they also have stretchy cotton pouches that might work better.

I really love Angel Pack, but haven't used them with a little newborn. I think another carrier would be better for a tiny baby, but the Angel Pack would last you for a long time.

I personally haven't had much luck with pouches since it can be hard to get the right size. Have you considered a Mei Tai? You'd have to tie the straps, but it's not much different from a soft structured carrier like the Angel Pack and Ergo.

Between those, I'd get the Beco. It works really well for new babies.

I'm not familiar with the angel pack or beco, but I do have an Ergo, which didn't work for me because it was too bulky and awkward on my small frame. It never felt secure on my shoulders. Too many straps and buckles - I ended up using (and loving!) a Moby wrap, although I also tried a Kangaroo Korner sling.

I tried the Ergo out when my daughter was a few weeks old with the infant insert and found that to be extremely difficult to maneuver her into. She seemed all squished and was uncomfortable (crying and unhappy). She liked the KK sling better (fell asleep the first time I got her in), but the fleece was very warm, I had a hard time getting the baby in and out of the sling by myself, and the one shoulder carry hurt my shoulder/back after a short time.

I'd recommend trying all three out if you have a store nearby that carries them. It seems like one wrap/sling/carrier will work beautifully for one person but not for another. I was determined to use the Ergo, but it just didn't work for me. Luckily I found the Moby - but it was the third carrier I tried!

i do love the moby wrap for newborns but find that they lack in support quickly as baby gains weight.

I agree with Giselle. Beco Butterfly is my prefer choice if you are going to get one carrier that will take you from newborn to toddler years.

AngelPack is very lightweight and comfy too. Baby should be a little older, past the newborn stage, before you can comfortably use it.

In an ideal situation, I'd get a Moby plus Angel Pack. I prefer the snuggliness of a Moby during the newborn age.
