Question about Snappis/Prefolds

So, I got a bunch of Chinese prefolds and Snappis in the mail yesterday and was testing out how the Snappis work. It pulled apart the weave of the fabric and created teeny holes! Is this normal? Will the diapers toughen up after I prewash them?

They prefolds are always really flat, open, and quite awful looking when you get them. Wash them 3-4 times in hot (i never dried mine in between, not sure if that matters or not), with soap on the first 2-3 loads, give them a good extra rinse after, and dry in the dryer and they'll quilt up nicely. I've been snappi-ing mine for a long time and there are no signs of wear. I'm sure the little holes that are already there will tighten up during washing, don't worry too much.

Good to know! Thank you!

If you need to do other laundry or don't want to use that much water, you can first boil the prefolds in a big pot for about 10 minutes. Then drain off the water and put them in the washing machine and wash on hot through one or two cycles with 1/4th the amount of soap you would use for clothes, with extra rinses at the end of each cycle. Then dry in the dryer, no dryer sheet or fabric softener. I've found that boiling them really strips off the stuff that makes them flat and stiff!

What others said... once the PFs are prepped, the Snappi won't do that, it works great.
