Done everything right, but we still repel

Alright.. I don't think I've seen any advice for stripping that I have not followed. I should clarify that they do not stink at all. fresh and clean smelling. Suspiciously, they've started to repel after moving into this house, and were fine when we lived 3 miles away. Same water source.

I have tried:
RLR. oddly, this worked the first time I tried it, then they repelled again the next time they were washed. I bought an economy container of RLR and I've never been able to get it to work since. The only thing I can think of is the economy rlr being different from the individual packets?

scrubbing the heck out of the washer, running cycles with a couple cups of bleach (no clothes/dipes.. just washing the machine) and again with vinegar, I also removed the fabric softener reservoir thingie from the center (top loader) because the previous owners used softener

washing with a squirt of dawn, with several hot rinses, water heater turned all the way up, rinsing until no more bubbles.

scrubbing the heck out of one at the sink with dawn and scrub brush, turning inside out and scrubbing more, rinsing with water so hot I'm amazed my fingers didn't blister. Added vinegar to the rinse water and rinsed more. rinsed more under running water. That diaper got *rinsed*

emailed the water company asking if there is anything specific to the local water that might leave residue or be unable to rinse thoroughly. they were clueless, course. our water is soft.

We were washing with country save and have switched to charlie's since so many local CDers really like it, I figure the water must agree with it.

Yes, I CAN stick to natural fibers only (been doing that for months!) but I WANT to use all those one size pockets I spent a ton of money on. Is it so much to ask? :

So, have I left any rock unturned that might magically enable water to pass through the fleece on my pockets?

Maybe try yet another detergent. I'll be you can find coupons or samples for Tide or Purex. Do lots of rinses in hot water.
