Anyone else looking forward to new Miyazaki movie, Ponyo?

Anyone else looking forward to Hayao Miyazaki's new movie Ponyo? It comes out this Friday, and I'm hoping there's a nearby theater playing it because I really want to take the kids.

We've seen and enjoyed many of his movies, my favorites being Spirited Away (kids haven't seen that - too scary), My Neighbor Tortoro, and Howl's Moving Castle.

Here's the trailer: www.disney.com/ponyo

Oh! I had no idea. Usually when I mention Miyazaki to people all I get is a blank stare. Doubtful it will show near me but can't wait for the DVD. DD (2.5) loves Spirited Away. It's such a great movie for kids, especially girls

We love Toturo and I was so excited to see the trailer for this new movie. My little ones are too small to see it in the theater, so I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

There's a thread about this in the Lactivism forum too, but I thought I'd share this here as well.

Favorite scene from the movie:

The little boy and girl, Ponyo, are in a boat. They come across another boat with a couple and their baby. Ponyo gives the mother a cup of soup, which the mother starts to drink. Ponyo gets a little mad and says that the soup was for the baby. The mother says something like, "Oh, he's too young to eat soup. He can only drink milk. But if I eat it, it will help me make more milk for him." And then the little boy says something like, "My mom used to make milk for me too!"

It's really cute! =)

We just saw a trailer today and it's playing in a near by town : DP and I both love his films! DS is only 3mo, but we have successfully brought him to the movies once, he nursed and slept through the whole thing, so we may try again as we both are excited to see this movie

Just saw it! It was great fun. I laughed out loud at the mom when she had her fit. Loved the whole feminine power theme.

Saw it today. There's a very nice chat about "feeding mommies so they can make milk for the babies". Very cool.

I can't wait to see it! Ds loves the Little Mermaid and he knows this movie is based on that. He already says he wants to own the movie.

Look for a valkyrie theme, as well. There's a neat sequence with Flight of the Valkyrie-type music.

What do you think of this movie for a two year old?

I really want to take DD to a movie and I was thinking this might be a good one. She's pretty much TV free with and odd nature documentary or children's movie thrown in here and there. She's doesn't fright easily and loves loud booming noises and music.

So, thoughts?
