But if I eat it, it will help me make more milk for him." And then the little boy says something like, "My mom used to make milk for me too!"

It's really cute! =)
Thanks for reminding me of that scene (it's been awhile since we saw it). It was excellent and for my DS it sort of reinforced that it's the norm. I agree it was a sweet movie. When Ponyo took the boy's hand after he'd found his mother's car and was clearly worried my DS looked at me and whispered "That's sweet".

SparklingGemini, it's a pretty gentle film but I could see how a 2 yr old might get bored, especially if she's not used to watching full-length movies. It's hard to say, though, it could be that the novelty of it would keep her interested.
My DS saw Spirited Away at 2.5 and it was his favorite movie for a long time (I know some people think it's scary, but we don't). He also liked Castle in the Sky around that same age. So it's possible your DD would love it. In your place I'd go for it and just sit on the aisle in case a break is needed.

It was awesome!

"Ponyo, Ponyo, little fishy in the sea,
Ponyo, Ponyo, little girl with a round tummy!"

We really enjoyed it. I love the very fairy tale-like aspect, combined with the lovely homey domestic details. And verrrry psychedelic palette.

I really want to take DD to a movie and I was thinking this might be a good one. She's pretty much TV free with and odd nature documentary or children's movie thrown in here and there. She's doesn't fright easily and loves loud booming noises and music.

So, thoughts?
I think at two y.o. there'd be less of an issue with being frightened than with being bored.

Psychedelic is right! Ponyo's dad looked like he was straight out of the Yellow Submarine. And my 10 y.o. son leaned over and asked, 'why is he wearing earrings??'

My kids loved the lunch scene and wanted ramen noodles for lunch the day after we saw it. I put hard boiled eggs and snow peas on top, like in the movie.

We saw it and LOVED it! I want to see it again.

This is definitely one that I'll buy when it comes out on dvd. Ponyo is so darn adorable!
