Fussy Babe due to something in BM?

My 5 week old seems to be an abnormally fussy baby who has lots of gas pains that seem to bother her enough to keep her up at least a couple of times a day, along with a fussy period first thing in the morning, and the standard fussing of the "witching" or "granny" hour in the late afternoon that sometimes stretch's into all evening.
We try a million different things but sometimes nothing inc the boob works. Sometimes she just latch's on then pops off after a couple of sucks and that repeats over and over again usually until my boob gets too sore to continue. Or she will act like she wants it then arch back as soon as the boob gets close. She also has a red rash similar to baby acne but all over the upper half of her body that the ped says is an allergic reaction to something. He had no suggestions other than put Cortaid on it. She had also been throwing up with more frequency, we are up to three straight days of her throwing up one whole feeding. I seemed to have had oversupply at the start of BFing but that seems to have resolved itself now and her weight gain has been good, 2+ lbs since birth. At the moment this is more that this new momma can take.
Could it be something in my BM that is causing this or I am just blessed with a fussy baby? I have some issues digesting milk as does my husband but no true food allergies in either of us. Help I am losing my mind here!

I have a 3 week old that is doing the same sort of stuff---fussy fussy with what seem like gas pains, grunting, spitting up what seems like a whole feeding. I know from my other dc's that some of this is regular baby stuff---like learning to burp and just maturing --and some of this just miraculously disappears after a few weeks no matter what you do.
I think the oversupply and fast flow also add trouble to the mix (I can have a very fast flow).

And even though we have no allergies in the family, my #3 dc couldn't tolerate me eating any eggs or milk while he was under 18m and nursing. At some point I reintroduced both and he was fine, and he has no sensitivities now (he's 3y).

With my 3w babe I've been eating everything, but with what seems like intestinal stuff happening with her I'm going to start to take things out of my diet. I'm starting with onions, garlic and the cruciferous vegetables(kale, cabbage, broccoli). If it doesn't get better my second round will be to stop chocolate and peanut butter. Lastly I'll take out eggs and milk. I really don't want it to be eggs and milk again as those are giant sources of protein for me.

I would look at your diet, if the last 3 days have been worse what have you had lately that might cause trouble?
If it's really not baby acne, then it is some sort of reaction, and unless you've started a new detergent, or a new lotion, it probably is a sensitivity to something you ate (dairy and eggs always caused a break out in my ds). I would not put cortaid on a baby for a rash though. If the rash isn't bothering her I wouldn't put anything on it, just wait and see if eliminating something helps.

Adding to what Melamama said, sometimes it's impossible to know what's causing a baby to be fussy. It's frustrating.

Growth spurts, mental developmental stages, etc. could all be contributing.

My dd was like this for the first 2 months - at least, it's all kind of a blur now. At 4 weeks she was diagnosed with reflux and put on axid which may have literally saved both of our lives. Then we figured out she was sensitive to dairy, soy and eggs. I eliminated all from my diet and she was a totally different baby. I saw years ahead of us eating like rabbits but she has already outgrown her sensitivities at 8 months! If your ped isn't suggesting reflux and/or food sensitivities I'd talk to another doctore. Also, the book colic solved is a great resource. Hang in there, you are not along and lots of us have come out of the other side now

Thanks for all the help, we have a visit with the ped next week so we will see what he has to say. I just got Colic Solved today and am trying to get through it prior to our appointment to see what questions I need to ask. I think that I will go ahead and try to eliminate the dairy, soy and eggs too. I have no idea what I will eat but hey if it keeps me from going nuts it will be worth it. The rash is starting to look more like eczema now which is associated with allergies and inflammation so maybe it is one of the signs that she is reacting to something.
