gdiaper insert, regular cover?

we just got back from seeing an ND about the yeast problems ds has been having. among other advice, she wants us to use sposies for a month I was thinking of just using gdiapers instead. (i assume they wick away moisture, right?) so I was wondering if I could just get the refill pack of inserts and put them in coversr we already have. Is there any reason that wouldn't work?

yes they wick away moisture. i fold them into a prefold, snappi and cover.
without the prefold i think it would just slide all around the cover, but my babe is a wiggler.

they slide more than a trifolded prefold? regardless, a snappied prefold wouldn't be a bad idea.. ds is just baaarely big enough for mediums, and we don't have any small covers. adding the bulk will help the fit.

I used g-diaper inserts in a regular cover for the last ten days while on vacation. It worked great with one big exception - poop. It got all over the cover. My DS only poops once every 3-4 days these days and I'm not squeamish about handling a messy cover so it wasn't a big deal to me but I can certainly see how it could be. Aside from that, the system worked well. Probably using a prefold fanned out in the bum area would help with the poops (I just used the insert in the cover, nothing else). The inserts bunch up a bit but that didn't seem to matter. We never had a leak (even the poop). They had curbside compost pick-up where I was so I didn't have to flush the wet inserts (I have never been able to do that successfully) or put them in the trash, which I was happy about.

FWIW, I used M/L gDiaper inserts in Medium Bummi Super Whisper Wraps on my tall & chunky 23 lb 8 month old. I'd recommend using Small inserts if you use a prefold too.

16 lb 3 month old.. maybe the small inserts would work best? Oh, and poop on the cover won't bother me a bit. Its not different from a trifolded prefold! I pretty much expect to have to change the cover if its poopy, and if I don't, I consider myself lucky.

yep i did it on and off for the first few month when we bought our new house and didnt have the washer hooked up yet. i was going back and forth between that and going to the laundromat. with my 30+lber, i was using 2 at a time in either a thirsties cover or a bummis super whisper wrap. the bummis covers worked much better keeping them in place, our large thirsties covers are on the larger side for dd so i think that was the reason - so i would suggest using the smalles covers that you can still comfortable put on him.

gl - we get yeast from time to time and using a sposie definitely helps it to clear up faster, although i cant always afford them!
