Used bottle?

My sister gave me a huge bag of her babes used Born Free bottles, the smaller size and the larger size. He used them for one year. They look brand new, sis washed them by hand mostly with a few runs through the dishwasher on sanitize. They are all sanitized and ready to go.

My upcoming babe will be in the NICU for a few weeks having intestinal surgery. My plan is to EBF and I have already talked with LC and will rent a hospital grade pump. Unfortunately, because of being on bedrest so long and stuff I'll have to go back to work 6 weeks pp (if babe is home, otherwise I'll quit).

My DS never took a bottle and it was a nightmare when I was at work. I'm hoping this babe will be more receptive and would like to use the bottle sister gave me.

Ok to use "used" bottles? Do I need to get all new nipples? (I'm leaning toward getting new nipples and calling it a day). What do you think?

Absolutely! People even give away used bottles on craigslist and freecycle! Just clean them well and use them in good health.

What a great sister! Yeah, I'd totally use the bottles. I might get new nipples, though, since that's where most the "wear and tear" happens on the bottles and to assure that I had the slowest-flow nipples.

Of course! Once you use a bottle, it becomes a used bottle!

If you have a dishwasher, run the bottles through that.

I would definitely use them, especially if they came from my sister. I would buy new nipples though. It is recommended that the nipples be replaced every so often anyway because of wear and tear.
