spot of blood in his diaper

I'm pretty sure DS has a yeast infection. The tip of his foreskin is swollen looking at there are some blistery patches. It looks similar to what his brother would get and would respond to clotrimazole. My question is: there seems to be one blister that is repeatedly breaking open or won't heal over. Off and on I will find one tiny spot of blood on his diaper where the sore touchs it. Anyway, its really starting to bother him. When he pees, he grabs himself and starts crying. Assuming it is yeast (I've only been treating it for 2 or so days), is there anything I can do to avoid his urine touching the sore. Lots of ointment to cover it? Switch to sposies so the urine gets absorbed better? TIA!

Yes, to putting a diaper barrier cream on it, and sposies till the infection clears up is a good idea too (you need to strip the cloth diapers anyway.) The best cure all for diaper area issues is naked time to let everything air out.

Lots and lots of diaper cream I mean gobs of it it will provide a barrier between his skin and the urine.

My son had this too. The blister kept sticking to the cloth so I had to switch him to disposables for 2 days so it could scab over. I also did a really good strip of his cloth diapers and i even added a tiny bit of bleach to the water, the one and only time I ever did. I didn't think it was yeast so I never treated it with anything other then a bit of zinc cream before we switched to disposables. When he was in the disposables we used nothing on the blister at all and it was able to heal. I believed his blisters were a reaction to the diaper build up or ammonia in the diapers.

Thank you! We were able to get into the doc today and she does think its yeast. So we're doing lots of cream and I think I may switch to disposables for a couple days. In a pinch I put him in an pull up of DS1's and he seemed better with it. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

You need to switch to disposables until the yeast is TOTALLY gone (few weeks) and you have stripped all the diapers. To strip the diapers you need to strip with vinegar and hang them in direct sunlight. This is the only thing that will remove the yeast from the cloth. Here is a thread where I discuss yeast:

If the cream does not clear it up go for the oral diflucan. That was the only thing that worked for my son's yeast.
